Three persons who attacked and robbed occupants of Gabi Guest House at Amanfrom, Accra, last year of their belongings and various foreign currencies, were on Friday sentenced to 50 years imprisonment each by an Accra Circuit Court.
This was after the court had found them guilty on five counts of conspiracy to rob and robbery.
The accused Sunday Edze, Kelvin Asabri and Kofi Adamba made away with 9,300 dollars, 6,259 Swiss Franc, GH�19,300 cash, a Swiss passport, a digital camera, mobile phones and a Ghanaian passport.
Samuel Cudjoe jointly charged with the accused persons was found not guilty, however, he was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for possessing a black polythene bag full of Indian hemp.
An accomplice Sani Mohammed is on the run.
Opanyin Yena, a State Attorney told the court presided over by Mr Eric Kyei-Baffour that the Greater Accra Police Command on April 17 last year, at about 2130 hours, had information that a group of armed robbers had attacked a guest house at Amanform in Accra.
He said the Police therefore mounted surveillance at the guest house and apprehended Edze who had a fracture in his right leg and was fleeing the robbery scene.
During Police interrogation, Edze mentioned Asabre, Adamba and Cudjoe as his accomplices.
The State Attorney said on April 18 last year, the Police had information that Asabre, Adamba Cudjoe were meeting at a warehouse at North Industrial Area to share their booty.
Police personnel sent to the warehouse found Asabre and Adamba and during a search on them found cash in the sum of $900, GH?7,700, 190 pounds sterling, 11 wrist watches, 12 mobile phones, a digital camera and a foreign pistol.
Convicts Asabre and Adamba told the Police all the items were forcibly taken out from the victims at Gabi Guest House at Amanform.
In the case of Cudjoe, the police traced his house and during a search in his room retrieved a black polythene bag containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
He told the Police that the dried leaves belonged to him and that he bought them from one Tetteh.
