Traders Threaten To Boycott 2012 Election

Market women who buy foodstuffs from Mile 5 Market in the Nsueam Zongo electoral area have threatened to boycott the 2012 election if the road from Nsueam junction linking Mile 5, Nyow Camp, Nsufah, Supanso, Kakoasi and other communities are not constructed. The traders as well as drivers who ply the road said that stretch of road had been abandoned for over 10 years. The traders issued the threat when the GNA visited the Mile 05 community and said their farm produce normally got spoil because of their inability to cart them to the market. The GNA found the road muddy with deep pot holes making it difficult for vehicles to ply to take foot stuffs and cocoa to be taken to Tarkwa and Takoradi. Mr. Prosper Agbeti, the assembly member of Nsueam Zongo electoral area, said he had written to the assembly since April on the general poor condition of the road but had not had any response. He said he sometimes organized communal to fill the pot holes with sand and that the already bad nature of the road had worsened due to the recent heavy rains that hit the area. Mr Agbeti said drivers charge GHc 2 instead of the approved GHc 1 because of the nature of the road.
