Jesus Christ Was Born In October

Gods Kingdom Society (The Church of the living God), has stated categorically that the birth of Jesus Christ was not on the December 25 as the Catholic Church has made the world to believe. Even though the executives of the church could not state the exact day for the birth of Christ, they mentioned that through chronological calculation of the Jewish calendar, the Messiah was born in October and not December. Explaining the reason behind their claim, Felix Adedokun, Vice Chairman of the executive board of the church said, Celebrating something for so long does not make it true. Elaborating his point further, Mr. Adedokun said Elizabeth, Zachariahs wife and John the Baptists mother became pregnant, according to the Thamuz (a Jewish calendar), between late June and early July, so by calculation, according to what the Bible says, it was six months after Elizabeths pregnancy that the Angle visited Mary. He said counting six months from early July, you will end in December and that was when the angel visited Mary. This he quoted from Luke 1 vs. 26-24 In the sixth month of Elizabeths pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgins name was Mary. Explaining the point, another member of the church, Daniel Ikpuri, said after the angel had visited Mary to give her the message that she would give birth to the Messiah, she hastened to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who was by then six months pregnant. Luke 39 at that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariahs home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Marys greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear, he quoted. Ikpuri said this was the evidence that Mary was pregnant by the time she got to Elizabeths house; and that was in January. There we can easily calculate the birth of Jesus and that falls on October, Ikpuri noted. Also, Palestine is very cold in December. It was too cold to ask everyone to travel to the city of their fathers to register for taxes. Also, the shepherds were in the fields (Luke 2:8-12). Shepherds were not in the fields in the winter time. They were in the fields early in March until early October, he stated. Ikpuri observed that he mission of Gods Kingdom Society was therefore to sensitize the public about the truth and tell the world about the importance of the mission of Jesus. He added that the Church which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ in October, was undertaking some activities. He said, we are organizing a Bible lecture on the subjects Gods Kingdom-The hope of the world; Only the truth, not miracles will bring peace and salvation; If hell is meant for wicked only, why did Jesus Christ go there?, among others. This will take place at the Methodist Park, Korle Gonno from September 29 to October 2, 2011, he said.
