NDC Propaganda On Nana Akufo-Addo Will Fail

A former Minister of Foreign Affairs under President Kufuors regime, Akwasi Osei Adjei, has described propaganda being used by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to tarnish the image of the NPP flagbearer as a wicked agenda that will not wash. According to Mr Osei Adjei who took over from Nana Akufo-Addo when he became the NPP candidate in 2008, he worked under Akufo-Addo for six-and-half years and found out that the man was very strong in his belief and vision and distinguished himself as one of the best foreign ministers the country had had. Whatever the NDC people are saying about Nana Akufo-Addo to the effect that he used drugs and that he is a womaniser, I can say that none of these is true, he said. He said Akufo-Addo was very dedicated to his work and brought respect and dignity to the country during his tenure as Foreign Minister. If NDC people have nothing to tell Ghanaians, they should leave Nana Akufo-Addo alone because many Ghanaians love him and NPP as a party we are proud to have him as our presidential candidate, he said. Mr Osei Adjei made the statements at the official inauguration of Nana Addo For President (NAFOP), a pressure group within the NPP in the New Juaben South constituency at Koforidua in the Eastern region over the weekend. Mr Osei Adjei, who is the national patron of NAFOP, said the pressure group would do everything to canvass votes for Nana Akufo-Addo to enable him to win the presidential elections convincingly. He explained that NDC ministers were becoming very insensitive and arrogant to the extent that they could order the arrest of a group of policemen who were doing their normal work to ensure safety on the road. Gabby Otchere-Darko from the Danquah Institute said the NDC was thriving on vile propaganda and was not doing anything to address its weak leadership and the broken and shattered economy. The NPP left a healthy economy for the NDC but now the economy is completely destroyed and every Ghanaian is feeling the destructive effect of an incompetent government, he said. He noted that in Zambia, the incumbent president was always attacking the opposition leader, Michael Sata but when Zambians went to the polls recently, they voted the incumbent government, which had had just one term of office, out because of incompetence. The national organiser of the party, Alhaji Moctar Bamba, who was the special guest of honour, said the NDC was seriously planning to rig the elections because it felt that genuinely it could not win the elections. Brothers, these people are experts in rigging. We have seen some of these practices ourselves, he said, adding that constituency officers should brace themselves up for such a battle. He said the all die be die slogan was aimed at preventing the NDC from rigging the elections. We shall face them boot for boot and as a national organizer, I will urge you to work very hard so that we can win the elections convincingly in the first round, he said. He also asked every member of the party who might feel offended by an action of a colleague party member to put all differences aside and campaign vigorously for the partys parliamentary and presidential candidates in the next general elections to enable the party to win. Present at the function were the national and regional executives of NAFOP, led by Oheneba Kwarteng, the national president. The national chairman asked newly-inaugurated executives in the New Juaben constituency to go to every corner of the constituency to campaign for Nana Akufo-Addo to win the elections.
