Doctors: We Will Not Listen To President Mills

Striking doctors have served notice they are not ready to budge to several calls including that of President John Evans Atta Mills for them to return to the wards. The medical personnel have rather lashed out at the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) as an inept entity that cannot solve their demands to be migrated onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS). Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the doctors maintained that their decision to lay down their tools remains unchanged and called on their members to uphold last weeks strike directive. The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission have shown that they are not professionally capable of producing salary structure based on scientific analysis and evaluation members are informed to continue to strike in our own interest, their statement read. The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has been striking since last Friday over what they termed the inability of the FWSC to look into their demands. The National Labour Commission has ordered them to rescind their decision while a compulsory arbitration is carried out. President Atta Mills during his three-day tour of Greater Accra also added his voice for the doctors to exercise restraint since the NPP government did not leave enough money to service the policy they inherited.
