NDCs Internal Wrangling Could Affect Mills 2012 Chances UKs EIU

The internal wrangling of the ruling National Democratic Congress is likely to cause it the 2012 elections, according to the UKs Economic Intelligence Unit. A report published by the Unit says the disputes particularly between the Rawlingses and President Mills may sway the marginal victory won in 2008 in favour of another party if they are left to fester. It says the difficulty in trying to find an amicable solution to the wrangling while continuing with the development agenda proves difficult for President Mills and his government. It enumerates some of the internal strife to include the rivalry between President Mills and former President Rawlings and the clash between the police and youth demonstrating against the Volta Regional Minister, Joseph Amenowode and the Chief executive Officer of the Ho municipality Isaac Kotobisah. The report also suggests that if the grievances of disaffected members of the party are not addressed, the disquiet may escalate as Mrs. Rawlings looks likely to stand for the Election 2012 as an independent candidate. But the EIU believes theres hope for the NDC. With the Rawlingses expected to remain in the party, theres still time for the internal differences to be addressed in order to get all members united behind President Mills before Elections 2012.
