NDC Youth Commends KMA Boss...

Youth Democrats, a youth group of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has lauded Mr Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), for working assiduously to enhance street electrification and infrastructural development in the metropolis. The group affiliated with the Asawasi Constituency of the NDC said: It is our observation that the massive improvement in the street lighting system in most parts of Kumasi, particularly in the last three years, had helped reduce criminal activities to the barest minimum and brought relief to traders, passengers and residents in general. The group cited the resolve by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to support educational development at all levels, in terms of expansion of classroom blocks, construction of new facilities, provision of computers, as well as the successful decongestion exercise which had eased traffic at the Central Business District of Kumasi. This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Ahmed Barakat, Secretary of the group, and issued in Kumasi on Sunday, after the quarterly meeting of the body. The meeting among others discussed ways to promote peace in the Ashanti Region following the recent impasse between some Regional Executives of the NDC and the MCE. The statement urged residents to be supportive of the KMA in the implementation of its development programmes, maintain good sanitary practices and also be law-abiding since nation-building is a shared responsibility. The statement reminded all NDC activists that the job of the MCE was devoid of politics, and as such they should refrain from utterances and actions that tend to sabotage the work of Mr Sarpong to achieve the Better Ghana Agenda. It expressed shock at the way some Regional Executives of the Party are allegedly bent in discrediting the MCE and warned that such developments could be a disadvantage to the NDC as it worked hard to consolidate power. The statement called for peace to prevail within the rank and file of the party to enhance its chances in the 2012 General Election.
