Sammy Awuku: NDC Can Never Win Election 2012 Except By Rigging

A Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku says there is no way the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can retain power in 2012 without rigging, adding that that is why the ruling party is fiercely fighting against biometric registration verification system. According to him, the NDC government had lost grasp of all sectors of the economy, saying the NDC have lost the votes of the mass of Ghanaian workers, especially those of doctors, teachers and unemployed graduates. The Chairman of Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan finally put to rest concerns raised by some political parties and identified groups about the need for verification of the biometric register by saying that the commission has made provision in its budget to the government for the verification gadgets for the 2012 elections. The system will make it possible for prospective voters to have their identity ascertained at the point of voting and the NPP has used every opportunity to remind the EC and government of how important it is to have a verification exercise ready for next years elections. Contributing to discussions on Peace FMs Kokrokoo Morning Show, Sammy Awuku argued that the NDCs fierce protest against verification system means that they had ulterior motives towards the conduct of the 2012 voting. I cannot foresee how NDC will win 2012 because theyve lost in all sectors, theyve lost teachers votes, doctors votes and unemployed graduates; we are the many. According to my observation and Im sure many Ghanaians will agree. NDCs only hope to stay in power beyond 2012 is through rigging; that is NDCs only last straw. If you dont like biometric verification then it means you have ulterior motives, and it also means you want people to rig the elections. If you think you have performed and delivered on your brutal Ghana Agenda or Better Ghana Agenda; then let the people decide, he argued.
