Ga-Dangme Youth Attack Nyaho-Tamakloe

Some Ga-Dangme youth have condemned a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, for describing as impracticable calls for the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo to have a Ga-Dangme running mate. Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe told a section of the media that although it is a laudable idea for a Ga-Dangme to partner the NPP flagbearer the right time is not due. Some supporters of the party have called for the NPP to break away from the old tradition of North-South partnership and to opt for a Ga-Dangme running mate for southerner Nana Akufo-Addo. Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said despite his strong commitment to Ga-Dangme constituencies, he still preferred a North-South or South-North ticket for now particularly for the 2012 election. However, the vice president of the Ga-Dangme Youth Association, Nii Marh Marquaye, said if a Ga-Dangme qualifies to be a running mate based on competence, he or she must not be denied the chance to run for such a position. The vice presidential candidate is not just for the Northerners, we are looking at someone who can partner you and help you do the work well, he said. Mr. Marquaye stated that in 2008 the North-South partnership did not help the NPP win the election and it will be better to select a running mate from a different region. He added: In 2008, Akufo-Addo took a candidate from the North and it did not help him and you have seven regions from the south and three regions from the North so why do you want to pick someone who has three and not someone who knows the terrain. I think Nyaho-Tamakloes assertion is not in the right direction, he has to come and talk well.
