No Buzz Ahead Of Glo-caf Awards In Accra

The 2011 Glo-Caf Awards is just 15 days away but the hype, excitements and enthusiasm associated with Africas top-most football prize has hit the lowest key point in Ghana. The coveted event will be held in Accra for the third time in six years but the usual noise and expectations that builds around the event has been on a low. There has been a total media blackout on the event with just two weeks before the crme de crme of African footballers and administrators converge at the State Banquet Hall for the prestigious ceremony on 22 December. Ghana star striker Asamoah Gyan is believed to be the front runner for the award among his compatriots Andre Ayew and out-of favour Kevin-Prince Boateng. Cameroonian Samuel Eto Fils who has won the award on four occasions has also been named despite failing to help his country and club to achieve anything significant this year. The list will be reduced to three before the winner, which will be decided by votes from coaches of senior national teams on the continent.
