FONKAR Wants Betty Mould Sacked

A pressure group, Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR), has questioned the credibility of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) saying it cannot be trusted with investigations into the GhC42 million Woyome judgment debt saga. Speaking for the group, the Operations Director, Ernest Owusu Bempah, indicated that EOCOs handling of previous investigations has been questionable. FONKAR, which is the latest group to have called for the head of a former Attorney General Betty Mould-Iddrisu, has also demanded that the president set up an independent inquiry to investigate the case thoroughly. President Mills on Tuesday directed the EOCO to investigate the circumstances surrounding the payment of GhC42 million to Vamed/Waterville Engineering and Mr. Alfred Woyome as judgment debt. In an interview with Citi News, Mr. Bempah said the investigations cannot go on with Mould-Iddrisu still in office. We are not comfortable with EOCO; we expect that the President would set up an independent enquiry. Their [EOCO] credibility is questionable, he said. The previous things that has come where Ghanaians dont have confidence in them in previous investigations [and] I mean the GFA issue and the whole hullabaloo that came around it.
