Lawyer Akwetey To Launch CPP flag Bearership Bid On January 17

The Convention People�s Party�s (CPP) Flag bearer aspirant, Mr Bright Oblitei Akwetey, on Thursday fixed Tuesday, January 17, for the official launch of �Akwetey for CPP Flag bearership,� campaign. The launch would be used to spell-out a campaign blue print which would focus on injecting dynamism into the party, building cohesion, re-structuring the regional and constituency structures of the party and modalities for attracting the youth. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after a meeting with regional coordinators of �Akwetey for CPP Flag bearership,� Mr Akwetey said recent developments in the party called for measures to revamp the party structures from the ward to the National Executive headship for greater impact in Election 2012. �Collectively, all members of the CPP need to join forces for re-examination, to dismantle, and make extensive transformation in order to repair the party structures from ward through the constituency, regional and national levels,� the former Chief State Attorney said. He said the CPP needed �All hands on deck approach� to redeem the party from political disintegration and set the stage for a new democratic standard of saving the party the country. Mr Akwetey said: �CPP need to build a party and democratic system of administration under which all members will be able to contribute to the welfare, peace and prosperity of our great party and keep it from dictatorship and oppression. �I will harness to the full the human and financial resources of the party and ensure development of all from the ward level through regional and national without discrimination�. �I stand out as the most affable, politically mature, with an unblemished reputation both in private and public life, international exposure and highly connected, high diplomatic negotiation skills and ability to work with every Ghanaian irrespective of one�s political background�. As a prelude to the campaign launch, Mr Akwetey will pick CPP Flag bearership nomination forms on Monday January 9. Nominations for the CPP flag bearership opened on Wednesday, January 4.
