Even before Ghanaians begin to digest news of the dismissal of Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Martin Amidu, a group calling itself Progressive Nationalist Forum has given the President 21 days to rescind that decision and reinstate him otherwise they will hit the streets of Tamale for a massive demonstration. They are also threatening to lobby for impeachment proceedings to be instituted against President Mills in accordance with articles 58 and 69 of the constitution of the Republic of Ghana if he fails to reinstate him for him to continue the case against Alfred Woyme; and also for the return of the GH�92 million which could be used as seed money for the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority. The group said, they are �appalled by the lack of the sense of Judgment on the Part of the President and his decision to dismiss Martin Amidu because he is the only man of integrity left in the government with a sense of duty to the Republic of Ghana�. A statement issued and signed by Richard Nyamah indicated that �the President�s dismissal of Mr Amidu was to save his own skin, as a successful prosecution of the matter would have implicated the President in the scheme to deprive this country of such gargantuan sums of money because information available to PNF indicated that President Mills chaired a cabinet meeting with 20 people in attendance in 2010, at which he authorised the payment of the money to Woyome�. According to them, Mr Amidu�s insistence to prosecute the Woyome saga and to retrieve the money to the state is borne out of his sense of duty, his integrity and the fact that his conscience will not allow him to conceal such crime and an amount which could have successfully implemented SADA for the three Northern regions, the most impoverished parts of this country, and an area he hails from. The statement called on PNF members and the suffering masses in Ghana to join them for a massive demonstration in Tamale �against the President�s concealment of crime and corruption in his government, and his attempt to use Mr Amidu as a scapegoat�. �We are also appealing to all well meaning Ghanaians to get themselves in readiness to ensure that the moral conscience of this country, integrity, probity and accountability are restored into our polity�. It would be recalled that Mr Amidu issued a statement alleging some key persons in government had orchestrated unwarranted media attacks on him because they believed �my integrity and professionalism as a lawyer was a threat to the concealment of gargantuan crimes against the people of Ghana in which they might be implicated,� President Mills demanded proof or a resignation letter from his Attorney-General, without which he would be sacked. The AG�s statement attracted a sharply divided opinion � while members of the governing NDC�s communications team, riled by the statement, called for his immediate resignation or dismissal, anti-graft agencies and some opposition elements insisted Mr Amidu needed to be allowed to stay to prosecute the people he claimed were committing crimes against the state.
