Whatever prompted the dismissal of Lawyer Martin Amidu from President John Evans Atta Mills�s team, the truth is still beyond the ken of many Ghanaians. It is doubtful whether the truth will be out anytime soon given the determination of the Presidency to cover the Woyome debacle and subdue the details surrounding the ouster of the former Attorney General (AG).
Ghanaians are under the circumstances left with no option than make their individual deductions with the uninspiring testimonial of the current government as basis. For sure though, the immediate cause of the dismissal was anything but misconduct and many who have attempted analyzing the issue using the government doctored premise ended up in a confusing maze of illogicalities.
The charge of misconduct being bandied around in the media does not seem to add up, raising more questions than answers.
Given the prerogative bestowed on him by the Constitution to hire and fire without adducing reasons for such actions, it was even not necessary for the many spokespersons of the President to tell us why Martin Amidu was given the marching orders.
The �misconduct� charge levelled against Martin Amidu, like many disclosures from the Presidency, is bereft of the deference which matters from the seat of government should command.
The reason for this shortcoming is not far-fetched; previous disclosures from the Presidency have mostly fallen short of integrity. That is the truth about governance as we are encountering it today.
Be it as it may, we have not been given a true picture of what transpired when Lawyer Martin Amidu was summoned to the Presidency.
Going beyond the dismissal announcement, the President�s men sought to explain the nature of the misconduct as levelled against the former AG and in the event failed woefully; this is a glaring challenge encountered by shameless propagandists. The inconsistencies in their narratives were consistent with their nature.
While some claimed that Martin Amidu poked his finger into the eye of the President, an outrageous allegation, others said he pushed him during an altercation. We doubt very much whether Mr. Martin Amidu can go this far.
These are certainly untrue reflections of what happened at the Castle on the day the former AG was fired. They are cooked stories to justify the President�s action while simultaneously covering somewhat the fact that the marching order was triggered by the former AG�s writ amendment and accusation of some appointees of government in the Woyome debacle.
The gentleman has denied any such �misconduct� as being bandied about in the media by people who have a lot to benefit from the Woyome largesse.
