A 53-year-old woman, Janet Appiagyei, went berserk and stripped an 18-year-old sales boy, Godfred Darko, and beat him to pulp by pulling and squeezing his genitals until they turned livid.
Janet Appiagyei, who is the wife of Apostle Daniel Boateng of Joyful Life Ministry International, a charismatic church at Kwashieman, and the sole importer of Mama Honey mackerel at Okaishie, accused Godfred of stealing GH�1,600 from the sales they made on Friday, January 27 and Saturday January 28, 2012.
According to a source close to the Striking Force Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the woman stripped the boy after subjecting him to severe beatings and began to pull his manhood until it was bruised.
The Chief Executive Officer of SEWA, Jones Owusu Yeboah, who is supporting the victim, told DAILY GUIDE that any attempt by the victim to use his hands to cover his penis to assuage his pains and to prevent the woman from further pulling it attracted a bite from her.
In the course of investigations, the police said they realized the extent of harm the complainant had caused Godfred and therefore bailed him.
He was then issued with a medical form which confirmed their suspicions.
Madam Appiagyei, according to the police source, had no evidence to support her stealing claims so she was arrested on Wednesday February 1, 2012 after she failed to honour several invitations by the police via telephone. She was put before an Accra Circuit Court where she was charged with two counts of unlawfully causing harm and assault.
She was granted bail in the sum of GH�50,000 to re-appear on February 29, 2012.
Godfred worked with Janet Appiagyei as a store keeper for about three weeks, after which she found him to be of good behaviour. She then allegedly sacked her salesman and asked Godfred to join her in the shop as a sales person instead of being at the warehouse.
She further made him to take an oath before starting the work at the shop. Barely two days after he had taken the oath of allegiance and sworn by the Bible, his boss accused him of stealing an amount of GH�1,600, being the total money he allegedly stole on Friday January 27 and Saturday January 28, 2012, the two days he spent at the shop.
Madam Appiagyei, while molesting her employee, boasted, �I will beat you very well until you are so weak and unable to do anything. I want you to die in police cells the next day or suffer infertility in future.�
Godfred was left with a bruised head and penis as well as bodily pains.
Since Godfred narrated his ordeal on some of the local radio stations, three other persons have called that they had been victims of the same woman who took them through similar ordeal after wrongfully accusing them of stealing when they were almost due for their first salary.
