Why Ive Stopped Indulging In Political Discourse Tony Aidoo

Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the Presidency, Dr. Tony Aidoo, says he has stopped indulging in political discourse because of its lack of objectivity. According to him, most people engage in political dialogue with a prejudiced mindset and so in spite of the truth, they remain set in their ways, as such he will not waste his precious time in discussing issues with such people. The once outspoken politician, appears for some time now to have vanished from the political scene, and has rather put on a cloak of reserved attitude. According to him, there is no doubt that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has performed well in government. However, he feels highlighting these positives in any intellectual engagement with the opposition will serve no useful purpose since nothing you say will make them change their minds. Speaking in an interview on Radio Gold, he said: There is something about Ghana politics that has discouraged me and that is commentary that lacks objectivity. If you are discussing something with someone who does not appreciate anything, it is a waste of time to engage in a discourse with them. I believe that the NDC is going to win by a wide margin, he said. A former Deputy Minister for Defense in the erstwhile Rawlings NDC administration, Dr. Tony Aidoo advised members of his party to stop engaging in any intellectual discourse that will not publicize the achievements of the NDC, and urged them to avoid propaganda and rather engage in credible arguments. In three years, we have achieved what the NPP could not achieve in their timewe have managed to achieve respectable growth. I hope the NDC will propagate its achievements instead of engaging in useless rhetoric. Useless rhetoric where people make statements which do not make sound logiclet the facts speak for themselves and make credible arguments and not propaganda, he said.
