Tobigah Fixes Fight Date With PNC Chairman

The dismissed Peoples National Convention (PNC) member, Dr. Somtin Tobigah, has given the national chairman of the party a two-week ultimatum to explain his membership status within the party because he does not recognise the congress that expelled him. In a letter jointly signed by Dr. Tobigah and Bernard Bamaa Me, both of whom were summarily dismissed at the recently held congress of the party, the two said they do not recognise the congress that dismissed them. The two indicated that the vote to expel them was negative, but the congress chairman still ruled that they had been expelled. In an interview with Citi News, Dr. Tobigah said their dismissal was in violation of the partys constitution. We were dismissed at a congress which we did not attend, there were charges levied against us we didnt know about and we had no opportunity to accept or deny those charges, he said. The constitution of the PNC demands that before a person is dismissed it must go through a certain disciplinary procedure. Dr. Tobigah said the dismissal was illegal because the PNC did not exhaust other disciplinary procedures before resorting to congress the last option to dismiss a member.
