Fanteakwa DCE denies allegations

Mr Abass Fuseini Sbaabe, District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa, has denied allegations leveled against him by Mr George Agyemang Duah, New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency Youth Organizer for Fanteakwa. Mr Agyemang-Duah addressing a constituency rally of NPP last Friday at Begoro had alleged that the DCE had purchased three different houses at separate locations owned 500 plots of lands at a village within the district and 300 cattle less than three years after his appointment into office and he described the DCE as very corrupt and called on the government to investigate him and bring him to book to serve as example to others. Speaking in an interview with the GNA in reaction to the allegations at Begoro on Tuesday, Mr Abass Fuseini described the whole issue as a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation. He said since he took over as DCE, he had not purchased any property and that the only project he had at the moment was the uncompleted building he started before taking the appointment in 2009 which was recorded in his assets declaration form. The DCE said the other properties belonged to the assembly and all documents to that effect were available for any verification and investigation. Mr Abass Fuseini said considering the kind of work he had been able to do less than three years in office as DCE as compared to NPP eight years record, his political opponents were afraid that come December the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would wrestle the parliamentary seat from them. He challenged Mr Agyemang-Duah to provide all the necessary documents to back his allegations for his prosecution. The DCE said his presence alone was scaring the NPP because the people were showing appreciation to the kind of projects he was undertaking to alleviate poverty in the area and that they were trying to find all available means to destroy his image. He said since he took over, he had operated an open door policy welcoming everybody irrespective of their political, religious and ethnic background and appealed to the NPP supporters to join him in helping to develop the district.
