The Minority Caucus in Parliament has asked government to stop what it termed the fraudulent sale of Merchant Bank to Fortiz Equity Fund Limited.
According to the Caucus, due diligence was not done in the sale of the Bank to the Fortiz which has no experience in banking.
The MP for New Juaben South and Member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah echoed the sentiment at a news conference in Parliament on Thursday.
Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah also said the Fortiz deal raises more unanswered questions.
The MP for Old Tafo and Ranking member on the Finance Committee, Dr Anthony Akoto-Osei said the Minority is not against the sale of the Bank to a Ghanaian company but is averse to the terms and conditions considered in handing over the bank to Fortiz.
