The Sunyani Municipal Assembly on Monday debunked media reports that its Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, was arrested, detained and granted bail.
A statement signed by Mr. Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Public Relations Officer of the Assembly and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, described the publication, which had dominated the social media, as false.
The Assembly would want to state on authority and as a matter of fact that the MCE is at post, and has not been arrested and detained, as reported by some print and electronic media, it said.
The statement warned the general public, and the media in particular, against such publications, saying, it must be treated as malicious and false with the highest level of contempt.
