The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) have a filed a suit at the Human Rights court challenging the decision of members of the Cocobod Union Workers to leave the ICU to form their own Union.
According to the ICU the decision of the workers Union of Cocobod if allowed to stand would amount to a breach of the fundamental human rights of its members and the ICU as a whole.
The ICU further claims that the executives of Cocobod’s workers Union took the said the decision without the consent of their members.
Hearing the case for the first time the Court presided over by Justice Anthony Yeboah adjourned the case to the 3rd of March 2016 to allow lawyers of both parties to file their addresses on whether or not a corporate body can enjoy human rights as the ICU is claiming.
