Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije says he was unable to leave any legacy for Ghanaian youth because all the youth in the country have lost focus as to what to do with their lives.
According to him, even though he accepted to head the ministry of Youth and Sports with the mindset on youth development than Sports, he realized that the youth organization is something else to plan with.
Speaking on Starr Fm with Bola Ray, Hon. Nii Lantey admitted the leaders in the country are partially responsible for the youths not being focused but added that the individual youth should be certain on the direction they want to take in life and remain focus to ensure its accomplishment.
“I went to the Ministry on the concentration and a lot more on youth development than sports because sports is dynamic but the youth organization is something else. What I saw was that as a country our youth have lost focus....for example a young man told me he wants to engage in ‘Sakawa’”,
“When I was growing up, even though my grandfather had wanted me to be a doctor to inherit his hospital and everything, somebody told me that from the way I speak, broadcasting will be good for me. So I had focus throughout despite the fact that my grandfather chose some subjects for me to study to become a doctor; I knew what I wanted to be in life”, he stressed.
He bemoaned that the youth and leadership training centres set up by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to develop the youth with focus on national development, patriotism and unity of purpose have been neglected.
The NDC MP for Odododiodio revealed that under his tenure as Youth and Sports Minister, plans were underway to host a three-day national jamboree with the various school scouts to share ideas and fashion out the perspectives of the youth in (December 2016), but the program coincided with University of Ghana examination timetable.
He thus assured his preparedness to assist the incoming Minister of Youth and Sports to embark on this plan to redirect the focus of the youth in the country unto the right path.

SO IF THEY HAVE LOST FOCUS WHAT DID YOU TO HELP THEM? HONESTLY,YOU LACK QUALITY LEADERSHIP STYLE.DO YOU KNOW THAT OR YOU ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN THE MINISTERIAL TITLE? POLITICS IS DESTROYING GHANA AND AFRICA GRADUALLY.
Presenter? Last time you said you wanted to become a lawyer what happened to that? Anyway, why are you surprised someone told you sakawa was his dream job? Maybe he saw your lifestyle and wanted to emulate it. Are you not the one who went to New York and stayed with your gf? When you have a wife back home?
I always say that Nii Lantey is a fuuuuul and a stuppidd man who doesnt deserve a ministerial appointment. look at his line of argument. you want to organize a jamboree. All you guys know is partying, lavish life style and fun. Is that what the youth need or they need jobs. This is why we voted your fuuuulish party out. Visionless bunch of fuuuuuls. You can now go home and organize the jamboree with your wife and children gyimmiiii
If Ghana has people like this uncultured man as minister for youth and sports, what legacy can he live behind that disrespect for the elderly in society,no wonder youth development could not move forward an inch with him as youth minister,a man who said Ghana,s presidency is not for short people, where in the bible are we told the height of God?. Infact Ghana,s ministry of youth and sports is definately not for zig zag face people, certainly not for uncultured people like this thing called a human being, i prefer a short person who is cultured than the tallest uncultured . The least said about this lante guy the better, sheeeaaaaa
Surprised at the Ministers view of the youth in Ghana. This is what the CEO of National Youth Authority posted on his Facebook page this morning. This morning I met members responsible for Youth & Sports on the side of the incoming government to brief them. My desk is cleared, handing over notes delivered, resignation letter signed. Looking forward to my new job as Member of Parliament for Kumbungu constituency. It's been a great pleasure serving my country as CEO of the National Youth Authority. Forever grateful to President Mahama for giving me a unique opportunity to serve. We achieved a lot together and the credit goes to our President. Very recently, we worked on and pushed for parliament to pass the Youth Authority Act 2016 currently awaiting presidential assent. This is a major milestone in Youth Development in Ghana. The new Act now provides a guaranteed source of funding for youth development among other significant changes. The NYA is now visible and well positioned to facilitate youth development than I met it three and half years ago when I was appointed. And I couldn't have led it successfully without the support of my colleagues in government, international partners, my staff, family and significantly the youth of Ghana. It's been great working with young people across Ghana. To the youth, I say, together we can. It is my prayer that the incoming government will push through the things we couldn't complete. May God bless our homeland Ghana. #Nawuni_kati_Dumba
