The speech of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his inaugural ceremony on Saturday January 7 shows that a new Ghana has been born, Kweku Asare, a United States-based Ghanaian professor, has said.
According to him, the president’s speech is a demonstration that he has “thought long and hard about what it means to be a president”.
The president, among other things, said: “I am deeply humbled by the exceptional mandate and extraordinary show of confidence that the Ghanaian people have conferred on my party, the New Patriotic Party, and on my modest person.
"I am determined to do all in my power to accomplish the task of the mandate and justify their confidence. I will not let you, the people of Ghana, down.”
Prof Asare wrote on his Facebook wall: “The inaugural speech makes it abundantly obvious that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has thought long and hard about what it means to be a president. This is an intangible asset that will serve him well.
“I am particularly impressed and intrigued by his call for active citizenship, coequality of the trinity of government, and the protection of the public purse. It surely feels like Ghana is born again.”

Out of a speech from former American presidents, a new Ghana is born. In a competition of hypocrisy, Ghanaians always win GOLD!! In an august occasion such as this, you couldn't produce a unique authentic speech to match the occasion. Proponents will definitely say we don't eat speeches. I don't blame them most don't know the severity of plagiarism and even the few that know pretend not to know because it goes against their candidate. Of heaven is born, let's wait and see.
Sometimes it amazes me the comment some of you post here. If certain set of people are in government the citizens must support them to succeed but if its others all they get is insult from certain citizens. This attitude will never help build the kind of Ghana will all dream of. Unless we treat each other with respect and dignity I don't think any government will have the full support of the citizenry. So for the past four years you have been moving from home to home to draw conclusion that Ghanaians don't smile. And today Ghanaians have started smiling. Statements like this is childish and irresponsible.
discipline. Let the V8's stop jumping the queues. if it must it must be escorted by a dispatcher rider on official duties. The time when any body riding in a V8 will just put on the hazard and jump the queue must end. if they are in a hurry they must set off early. Citizens, it is our duty to stop them. It is out tax and we can not continue to be treated as slaves or second rate citizens. In any case we voted for them and they are supposed to serve us and not lord it over us. If somebody jumps the queue cross him. the body guard can not shoot you. That is how collectively we can bring discipline on the Accra roads and ensure order.
Prof. Ghana certainly is born again. People are so hopeful and you can now see the Ghanaian smile again, something that has been missing for so long a time. There is genuine hope that the new prez. can and would lift Ghana up from its current state of hopelessness once again. It feels so good to be a Ghanaian today. We would help the new prez. to succeed.
