The Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Fredrick Tetteh, has slapped a 9-year jail sentence on a 26-year-old mason for defilement
Joshua Kofi Sekyi, the convict, pleaded not guilty to the charge that was said to have been committed at Odumase near Konongo in the Asante Akyem Central municipality.
Briefing the court on the facts of the case, Police Detective Inspector Thomas Adu told the court that the incident happened on the 22nd of January.
Joshua sent the victim, aged 13, to fetch water for him from a public standpipe and on her return lured her into his room and sexually abused her.
After the incidence, the victim informed her parents about the ordeal and a formal report was made to the Odumase police.
Joshua, according to the prosecution, admitted the offence in his caution statement.
