Following this paper’s expose’ that Immigration officers at the Kotoka International Airport aid some recruitment agencies into trafficking unsuspecting youngsters to some Arabian countries for a fee of Gh300 per every traveller, the officers last week Thursday vented their spleen on one of the Airport officials, beating him up over suspicions that he blew their lid.
The Fraud Unit Immigration officers numbering of about five chased Daasebre Kwabena Ahenkorah, an Assistant Division Officer from the Boarding Room, to the Departure entrance; where he was pushed unto the ground to lie prostrate; searched thoroughly and bolted away with his phone after he had suffered hefty blow in the hands of the officers, the New Crusading GUIDE gathered.
Narrating his ordeal to this paper, Kwabena Ahenkrah said: “It was about 5pm when I saw about six youngsters coming towards me at the airport. They asked where they could get the Turkish Airlines, so I asked them where they are going and they said Lebanon. I asked them where they came from and they said they were Kayayei's from Agbogbloshie. Looking at them they looked very young so I asked them to go and bring their agent, they went out to bring a certain gentleman. When the guy came he said he was actually not an agent but they were his sisters and he had only come to see them off. I asked how they managed to get the boarding pass and they said they had gone to the fraud unit at the immigration to pay GH300 each, then I asked them to go and bring those immigration officers”.
“Few minutes after went out”, he continued, “they came back in the company of three immigration officers. They were escorting them to the boarding gate when I intervened to ask why they had not properly interrogated the youngsters to know if truly their ages corresponded with what was on their passports. They ignored me and said I had nothing to do with immigration operations so I should shut up. I picked up my phone, and I wanted to make a call, one of them saw me and thought I had taken pictures of them , so they started chasing me”.
Deputy National Security coordinator at the Airport, W.O (ll) Frempong confirming the report, during an interview with this reporter said he had even intervened to get back the seized phone of the fellow KIA officer, but all attempts proved futile as the immigration officers vanished into thin air, after the attack.
Police officers at the KIA, as at the time of filing this report said although they had been able to retrieve the phone from the immigration officers, they were still under investigations for further action.
Meanwhile, officers from the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), had picked up about fifteen of the travellers suspected to be under aged, with their agents for investigations.

some Ghanaians are very wicked, this is blood money and it ill bring curses o their generations. People are becoming too much of money conscious in Ghana and that is too bad
I didn't read the police have arrested those immigration officers but rather investigation going on is that right? Is Ghana a banana republic? Why are those immigration guys roaming about on the streets? Are they also untouchables? Or they waiting for order from above before they arrest them? I ask myself always, what sort and kind of training do our police get from their training school and who are their instructors and are they qualified? Do they understand their work? I think there are more questions than answers, because it's like Ghana police don't know their work and people go there only for their stomach, give something and just go away is that the case? Anyway I don't blame them if you have a political party like the ndc whose members are in for their own interest and stomach but not the welfare of the country and people being giving a chance to rule the country what else do you expect? The whole country is at a mess and everything has broken down in the country and such people are calling for their re-organization to come back to destroy the country the more. What are ndc coming to do in power with this mess that they've left and they think Ghanaians are st*pid to enjoy a good government and give their country back to them to destroy? We move forward and ndc come to send us backwards and tell us we are transforming Ghana, going backwards is transformation for the ndc. May God have mercy on us and May God have mercy to open the eyes of those who vote for these people to see the light and truth for Ghana to move forward and backwards never.
that dasebere guy at the airport shld take things easy the way he treat people there self is very bad i doubt if his allegation is true. who can touch Dasebere at the airport. Even the airline staffs there dont like him due to the way he treat the ladies. if its true he was beaten then its from his behavior. Mr. journalist please look for the other side of the story by going to the airport and ask who Dasebere is. In fact Nana should watch that guy very well his attitude makes people talk of the president too much and am not happy about that. if you will stop the ladies from traveling fine, but treat them well. he always bores the immigration officers its not fair at all
Eiiiiii Ghana!!! Hmmmm
The minister of interior should see to it that all immigration officers at the airport should be transfer to other regions including the custom officers. They're the culprits leading this ***barred word*** agents to smuggle innocent girls to this Arab country.Right infront of our nose they are putting our girls in a blender with pepper, how much more in their own country. Also, minister of Foreign Affairs and minister of gender and protections should sit up.
