Former Deputy Transport Minister Joyce Bawa-Mogtari who served under the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for not showing much interest in the 5th anniversary of the death of former President John Evans Atta Mills.
At the fifth anniversary ceremony held at the Asomdwee Park, Mrs Bawa-Mogtari told Class91.3FM’s Kwesi Parker-Wilson that she is aware that Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo was given an invitation but could not turn up in person.
“I know that they invited the Senior Minister and unfortunately he sent his apologies and sent somebody else to represent him. I think we can continue to improve upon things.
“This is a man who won an election, a general election and was democratically elected and will expect that we could have come together as a united front irrespective of our ideologies to commemorate this event and I think it could also have given the government some mileage if they had shown more interest but I think all in all it is a great day.
“…I look forward to the day when we can all continue to mourn and commemorate this event without bringing the political parties,” she said.
The former Deputy Minister of Roads said she expects “better in future, especially because I know that Prof Mills was in school at some point with the current president so I would have expected them to at least show some interest in your colleague, your classmate, your colleague at the bar, a lecturer who has taught many of them who are lawyers”.
She continued: “So I think the rancour and all the political issues could have been put aside and would have been nicer if the president were here to recall some of the days when they were students”.

NPP don't think you are everlasting. 6SIX BAD for my likening.
joyce mogtari, I thought you were trying to reduce your stuuuupiiidity. Try to keep to your promise to say things that are not edddiotic. After you led JDM re-election to humiliating electoral shame, one would think that you will commit suicide. But here you are saying things that shows that you have severe mental challenges. Joyce, take a walk outside and get some fresh air, i can see that you have a mental breakdown due to high stress.
until we all know what killed him there is no way we are going to give a damn about any anniversary whatever. u (ndc) are the only ple who knows what killed and so should carry the cross for now. we will not come there and be haunted by some strange ghost.I love Mills but until I know what killed i dont care abt any anniversary.
@Ampofo I hope you will be wise to talk about the funeral of Former Head Of State Acheampong, Utuka, Afrifa, Kotoka, Lt. Gen. Akuffo, Former President Limann, Prime Minister Busia, Col. Ferry etc. How did you celebrated the 4th Anniversary last year. You have left the place to be forest. You are now complaining while you the killer of him has left the place forest. Until you @Ampofo make the above-mentioned people death anniversary, then no one will attend Atta Mills. He is not fully BLODDED THAN the above-mentioned Heads of States. CHEAP PROPAGANDA WILL COLLAPSE NDC.
Madam what do you mean here. Atta Mills biological son is asking WHAT KILLED HIS FATHER? Until you provide his postmortem results, NOBODY in Ghana (Country) will take whatever you people (NDC) say serious. Some of you have BENEFITED from killing of the man, and you are telling us to COME and waste our time there: for what? The former President is happy of the death (killing) that enabled him to be President for 4 years 5 months.
When did the anniversary of the death of Nkrumah, Busia, Ankra, Afrifa, Acheampong, etc. become an event for the government? Is Attah Mills the only former president dead? Give us a break.
Who killed Uncle Atta? NDC don't want Ghanaians to know what killed him, so celebrate alone.
What about the late Hilla Liman your Selfish Rawlings overthrew? I don't know what is wrong with you Northerners
This lady is s.ick your party chairman self is gonna face jail
Don't worry, Joyce. Those NPP I D I O T S like J I M I J I M I I Ampofo have forgotten that their President is immortal and will also pass away some day. We shall then go by the principle ' the measure you give to others, the same measure will be given to you'. No doubt Kennedy Agyapong described the NPP members as a bunch of complete ***barred word*** s.
