Public Sector Reforms boss, Mr. Kusi Boafo has disclosed that, Public sector workers will soon be paid strictly according to the number of hours they work.
He explained that, the implementation of the new policy will lead to the automation of the public service in order to ensure efficiency and productivity.
This comes days after some drivers of the Metro Mass Transit were suspended after they came to work late. Some staff of the Controller and Accountant General were also held up on Thursday for reporting late to the office.
Mr Kusi Boafo not that the new policy which will be launched by President Akufo Addo in May this year will eventually ensure that public sector workers are paid per the number of hours they work.
“We are no longer going to entertain absenteeism and for that matter very soon we’ll send circular to all workers. A new public sector reform strategic document has been approved by government, very soon it will be launched by the President. Very soon, time clocking system will be set in place and we’re going to automate the whole system.
“Let me tell you for a fact, in the coming years people will be paid according to the number of hours they sit and stay effectively at the workplace so at the end of the month it’s not a matter of you’re going to be paid ordinarily like we’ve been doing over the years,” Mr Kusi Boafo disclosed.

WE CAN ONLY HOPE IT HAPPENS FOR REAL. THESE POLITICIANS TALK A LOT AND DO VERY LITTLE. MUST THE FULL PUBLIC SECTOR AUTOMATION HAPPEN IN THE NEXT COMING YEARS. THIS CAN BE DONE IN A MATTER OF MONTHS EVEN IF IT BEGINS WITH ONLY ONE PUBLIC SECTOR.
Great news initiative, please note the system should also consider productivity but not just time spent at work. Effective monitoring and evaluation systems must also be at work bearing in mind the Ghanaian is naturally not a trustworthy person hence must be monitored strictly. Kudos
This is a good directive from the government. The next thing is to ban the use of mobile phones and unnecessary browsing on the internet during working hours as done in some countries. Thank you very much our leaders.
long overdue...best brain at work...please never be coward to back down when irresponsible government staff raise ***barred word*** issues against this productivity directives...labour agitation shouldn't stop this move.no politics no ***barred word*** talk
very good, monitor them with cameras too
I really love the move. Indeed Ghana is working again.
Yes visionary leaders, Ghana is working again!
This is the best news i have heard in years. Ghana is indeed working again. Brains at work. People needs to be put to work if they cant put themselves to work. When they absent themselves for some days, they need to be sacked. Ghana must wake up and work. No country will wait for us to develop. We have no choice as Ghanaians not to develop. Ghana must work again and the time is now. This is a welcoming news and the government must put all resources and attach all seriousness to this program. There should be monitoring and evaluation as well. Ghana is surely working under NPP.
This is good news. It’s a good idea. It will help put them to work. A lot of them even though some few ones are very hard working, majority don't do any work at all. What they know best is face booking, WhatApp etc. Please do it and do it well. Thanks
Oooo my Gooosh thank you thank you very much, I've been saying this for as far back as I can remember, now our leaders are waking up and if taking seriously Ghanaians will see the benefits of their own hard work and also, wanna see these workers getting pay raise we go down this road . Waiting to see the implementation of this law for additional comments
