Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba is stoking fire with her latest admonition to females in the country not to do all the household chores but share them with either their husbands or boyfriends.
She believes the days where men sit and cross their legs in the hall watching television or playing games while the women go through pain in the kitchen to cook and wash for the men should be over.
According to her, there are countries where men cook hence it would not be a taboo for men in Ghana to emulate them by cooking.
“My daughter is a student of Oil and Gas and I don’t expect her to come back from work late and be cooking while her husband is in the hall watching television,” she disclosed at an event MyNewsGh.com attended.
“I don’t expect that of from anywhere, she added.
She said “I have invested a lot of money in her child’s education and so in terms of equity we must share the household chores. We are equal stakeholders.”
The Minister who gave the admonition at the launching of an internship and mentoring program under the auspices of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), charged the females to share household chores with men so that they can also have time to pursue their ambitions in life.
“For you to have time to pursue your ambitions and dreams and get to the next level just like the boy child you must have time for your studies and that means household chores must be shared,” she said.
In a bid to find out whether the gathering agrees or disapprove of her admonition, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba sought their opinion when she quizzed that “Do you agree?
The gathering who were mostly females then applauded the Minister.
Quoting late Kwegyir Aggrey’s popular saying that if you educate a girl child you educate a nation, Otiko Afisa Djaba charged parents not to burden their girl child with lots of household chores while their boy child is given the room to study.
“The time has come for parents to educate their children to share household chores, “she advised.

No wonder she is still single and I wonder with this mentality her daughter will even get any man to marry
Find a husband then share with him ***barred word***
If she was successfully married this advice would have been taken but as it is now you have not been able to maintain a successful marriage life because of this same I know my rights attitude. Also your ministry is not for pitching men against women. I think you have lost focus.
Is she married at all to make such statement, may be the husband is her house boy, in that instance she can have control over him with such conditions. Guys be careful of of the ladies you go out with. Never accept to go out with a lady in higher position than you are, else they will sandwich you and begin to direct and control you as this Afisa Djaba has espoused.
Insult! Somebody should please remind her that she's Minister for Gender (Men and Women), Children and Social Protection and not Minister for WOMEN, Children and Social Protection so she will stop pitching women against men at home. And I hope her daughter falls in love with a man like me. I bet she will pack her bag and baggage and run back home to her mum before the end of the first week of marriage! A wise wife will PAMPER her husband to help her with the house chores but one who lacks wisdom like this Gender Minister will force her husband thereby creating hell at home for herself and her children! "Homes are made by the wisdom of women, but are destroyed by foolishness" so says Proverbs 14:1.
This is Africa and our wives will continue to cook for us.ıf the the Gender minister has forgotten her culture, we have not.lets see who marries her daughter with this condition. apuuu
This woman is confused about what she needs to do as a minister for Gender, Children and social protection. She is completely lost.
Ur daughter can be a student of mud and sand.....nothing changes the institution of marriage and the difference in roles.....the ladies i are trying to empower are sucking d.....cks for 50ghc......u are a joke of a minister
LOOK AT HER, CHANGING THE BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE,ANTICHRIST. YOU ARE THE MAIN REASON WHY GUYS OF TODAY FEAR TO MARRY.INSTEAD OF YOU ADVISING THE YOUNG LADIES TO FOLLOW THE BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES ABOUT A VIRTUOUS WOMAN WAYS , YOU ARE HERE THROWING DUST INTO THEIR EYES. GOD WILL ASK YOU ONE DAY.
