Government’s quest to revamp and build a modern railway network across the country as an effective ground travel alternative is gradually becoming a reality after the commencement of the Western corridor rail line linking to Ivory Coast.
Latest in the series of these efforts is the recent construction of a new bridge over convertible gauge of a 5km stretch rail track at Kojokrom.
Sector Minister, Joe N. Ghartey has also confirmed to Peacefmonline.com that the construction of the Tema-Mpakadan rail network has also commenced.
“These are the Tema to Mpakadan line which is being undertaken by AFCONS an Indian company and on the Kojokrom to Manso section of the Western Line which is being undertaken by Amandi an Isreali company,” he said.
According to him, the Phase 1 project of the entire Railway Master Plan which involves rehabilitation of all existing lines, as a viable option critical to extractive mineral enclaves like the Western Region is near to completion.
However, the rehabilitation of the Eastern Line from Accra to Nsawam has been completed and will soon be opened for the public.

Great effort. But we are also expecting that proposal of our beloved Dr. Mensah (the US based Ghanaian, Nano Technologist /Scientist/ Inventor), shall be considered and incorperated. If what he said on Peacefm, is anything to go by, then Ghana can join the 'fast track' countries with the 'electric train' as China,France ,etc. He was emphatic with his ability to 'connect' Ghana to accomplish that. More grease,Mr Minister. Go for the 'GOLD'. With your type at the helm, Ghana can do more. Show us more examples of 'good governance',at value for money.
God bless the government who has decided to fix our railway network for us. Nana kudos.
Oh my goodness! My whole body with goose pumps as I read this article, so after all we can have a man who can be compared to NEHEMIAH in the Bible who can mobilize men to build this our beloved country Ghana. Well with all these I read and see there are all indications that Ghana is working again and without doing propaganda and politics of this folks let us all rally behind Nehemiah Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to take us to the promised land of developed and prosperity country. May God grant Nana Addo long life
nice but too narrow railway line we need multiple lines not like the old system.
thats marvellous job from nana and his team of ministers.
We need to fence the railway lines to stop encroachers and fatalities
Indeed Ghana is working again after the NDC 8years hiatus and corruption ridden government. My only caution. What is the gauge of this new lines? If we are going to link up with Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Togo, then we better widen the width or gauge of the lines as our pre-existing lines are narrower than that of our neighbour. If we don't fix that problem right away, then it won't be possible for train to move from Paga to Ouagadougou. It would have to stop at the border and have its good unloaded, transferred and uploaded to the neighbouring countries trains. Very important to solve the problem right now.
All these in just 18 months? Unbelievable! Great work. I am NDC but want Akufo-Addo have a 2nd term in office to continue this great work.God bless Ghana
Why is the government not publicising these great works going on?
This is EVIDENCE base Fiiilifiiili you see it. MINISTER is working.
