The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has declared an indefinite strike over government's decision to dissolve the school’s Governing Council.
Their decision follows a similar action taken by the lecturers of the university, Friday. (Click to read)
A statement signed by the Vice President of the Association, Anthony Gollo said the association is "deeply stunned by the government’s decision to dissolve the governing Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, as part of measures to address the impasse in the University by establishing an interim council".
"We believe that the University Act and Statutes provide an adequate mechanism to deal with the impasse. We, therefore do not recognise the interim council and so reject it outright. GAUA insists on the restoration of the dissolved governing council of the university. We therefore withdraw our services with immediate effect until the restoration of the Council" the statement further added.

When people are promoting intellectuals ,our country is almost been govern by former student leaders , cheapest and easiest way to riches , so so inflated contracts
Bond, be a deep thinker ok. Even your so-called politicians also feeding on the public purse. Every institution has internal rules for the resolution of conflict. Unless otherwise all avenues failed to do so. The gov't cannot just step in to take decision of this nature
Great move . students must not be seen to have their way. it is dangerous. if u are a student of a university that will award you a degree you better respect them and be obedient. you cant destroy property and for any reason. and you dont have a right your right is study and pass after all how many years will you be there? I like NPP but this is a bad move from government complicating matters, now we have 3 in the conflict instead of 2. not surprising politician dont have the best of solutions in this matters
lecturers earn their salary through lawful means. looking at their posture, they are trying to say certain laid down legal structures were not followed. but this govt is found of taking hasty decisions. it seems it takes actions before it considers other issues or stakeholders.
FOR ANYTHING AT ALL IT IS KNUST SRC WHICH MUST BE DISSOLVED. THEIR APPROACH TO EXPRESS THEIR GRIEVANCES WAS WRONG AND CRIMINAL.
This GOLLO must be dismissed or transfered to UDS that's where he belongs. Kumasi us it for the ndc for them to be misbehaving in institutions in that region, it is a ploy by the ndc to make KNUST unpopular outside Ghana, ndc think they have to punish for their defeat, but what they forget is Ghanaians booted them away because of their incompetence and wanton ste*aling. Just after the desolation of the KNUST management ndc have set a market in Kumasi on fire, and I'm surprised ndc are being entertained in that region when they hate Ashantis and anything g Ashanti except their bauxite and other natural resources. Those ndc members in Ashanti have no business being there because they are evil towards Ashantis. All market fires in Kumasi are from those other tribes who are ndc and hate Ashanti but love to live in Ashanti.Open your eyes Ashantis !
