The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed an application challenging the constitutionality of the government’s facilitation of the construction of the National Cathedral.
In a unanimous decision on Wednesday, a seven-member panel of the court held that the decision of the state had not breached any constitutional provision.
James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly called Kabila, a former Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) proceeded to court in March 2017, praying the Supreme Court to restrain government or any of its representatives “from being involved in or taking any steps towards the construction of the Ghana National Cathedral, including the demolition of residences of justices of the Superior Courts.”
He wanted the court to prevent government from commencing “any civil works for the construction of the Ghana National Cathedral; and/or taking any action, measure or step preliminary or incidental to the construction of the Ghana National Cathedral.”
He insists government has no business meddling in religious matters.
However, according to Peace FM's Agya Kwabena, the SC dismissed the suit; stating that Kabila failed to raise any constitutional question for interpretation or enforcement.

HAS THE STATE ANY MANDATE/BUSINESS TO FLY PEOPLE TO MECCA EVERY YEAR ?
@ Koby: Even on our very good roads, are people not dying? I am for the cathedral b'cos God first. By the close of this year (2019) you will understand the wisdom of the President. Not everybody will agree with your choices & priorities. What is happening is Scriptural & Spiritual. Ling Live GH.
How do you expect the "hen" to win when the "jury" is packed with foxes?? A town near Suhum is carrying dead bodies, pregnant women, and emergencies on motorbikes due to the bad nature of the road. I am not against the National cathedral, but there is time for everything!!! Can't we make do with the national theatre, Black Star Square and conference centre for now, so Nana will say to himself that, "I want to fix all roads within my term, to improve the lives of citizeens" other than building a cathedral which will only benefit a few elites in the capital!!!
Any ***barred word*** can go to court.
Too many court actions. Why will somebody find out if the state has the mandate to build a cathedral. Why didn't Bonfreh find out in 2015 if the state had mandate to do bus branding
