Network Broadcasting Company Limited, the operators of Accra-based Radio Gold, has responded to the shut down of the station by the National Communications Authority (NCA).
The NCA on Thursday, May 9, 2019 stormed the premises of the station in the afternoon to shut it down for failing to renew its operating license, which the NCA says expired in 19 years ago in 2000.
According to the managers of Radio Gold, it was regrettable that the station was shut down by the NCA at a time the station was providing intermittent live coverage of a press conference by the Council of Elders of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

9th MAY 2019 PRESS STATEMENT:
RESPONSE TO THE CLOSURE OF RADIO GOLD BY THE NATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY
In view of the closure of Radio Gold by officials of the National Communications Authority (NCA) in the company of armed policemen on Thursday, 9th May 2019, the management of Network Broadcasting Company Ltd, operators of the station wishes to respond as follows:
a) That at all material times, Radio Gold has been in touch with the NCA through our lawyers on the matter in issue.
b) That we have made numerous attempts to submit the required documentation to the NCA for the purposes of renewing the frequency authorisation, which documentation was inexplicably rejected by the NCA.
c) That the unexplained rejection of our documentation by the NCA considerably stalled the renewal process, our best efforts notwithstanding.
d) That we had hoped that any action of the sort undertaken by the NCA on Thursday would have been preceded with prior and adequate notification.
e) That it is regrettable that Radio Gold was shut down by the NCA at a time the station was providing intermittent live coverage of the press conference by the Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at its headquarters.
f) That the closure of Radio Gold is high-handed and runs contrary to the spirit of engagement that has existed between the NCA and the station.
g) That the above notwithstanding, our legal representatives will continue to engage the NCA with the view to resolving the matter in issue to ensure a quick resumption of our normal programming.

Ndc are incompetent everywhere even their own radio station they couldn't manage but has huge debt ! every sector they left for the NPP has huge debt were they born in debts such irresponsible people want to rule Ghana tweeeeeaaaaa! us*eless people! look at their elders you see the irresponsibility in their faces and if you come from an irresponsible home do we expect you to behave responsibly hence ndc bad behaviours!:they behave like va*gabonds, street children with nobody to shape their lives! these drunkards and irresponsible people want power,no wonder they are damn crazy in opposition just for 2 years and want power at all cost so have chosen kidnappings, killings, arson and evil actions to make the country uncomfortable but they will rather be uncomfortable! being akwaseampafuo doesn't mean you have the key to violence to show your strength, that's the act of a coward and a weak opponent! Good life comes with responsibility, imagine Omanfm was as irresponsible as XYZ and Radio Gold during ndc time what would have happened? since 19 years radio Gold has been operating illegally and no wonder their hosts and panelists talk irresponsibly and reckless! it is better they've been shut down. Jankarifuo, akpatsefuo, oto ntua ka ! these us*eless people go on radio stations to insult successful people! If you have somebody like Ato Ahwoi an impotent man as your leader what sense will you get? ask Ato Ahwoi who is his child? Kwamina Ahwoi is wearing pampers and look at Mahama Iddrisu with thi*ef wife then you know who are in the ndc irresponsible nkokorafuo who supervised on a meeting to kidnap, kill Ghanaians and burn markets! only sick people will vote for ndc for these irresponsible people to rule them but TAFIAKWA it will never happen again!
Why is it that journalists think they should be forgiven? Does the law pardon gamalsey offenders? They have gone contrary to the law and must face the consequences. In this country when it is journalists we say go slowly. If all institutions we to act like the NCA, Ghana would be a law abiding country.
ILLEGALITY IS ALWAYS ILLEGAL NO MATHER THE PARTY CO LOURS AM ASHAMED OF OUR ELDERS FOR ORGANIZING PRESS CONFERENCE AT A STATION THAT HAS NOT RENEW IT LICENCE SINCE 2000. IT OUR STATION AND WE'VE BEEN IN POWER FROM 2008 TO 2016 BUT DID NOT SEE THE NEED TO CALL THEM TO ORDER. IBRAHIM MAHAMA DID THE SAME THING WHEN WE NEEDED MONEY TO BUILD THIS NATION WHEN WE WERE IN POWER. HE REFUSED TO PAY HIS TAXES. WHEN WE WERE VOTED OUT OF POWER. HE PAID IT. THE AMOUNT HE PAID TO THESE GOVERNMENT WOULD HAVE HELP US SOLVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS THAT CONFRONTED US. AS WE ARE GOING FORWARD AS PARTY LET US DO THE RIGHT THING, BEFORE WE ARE ASKED TO DO ONE
What is a good time to let the law take its course on a recalcitrant unrepentant demagoguery promoting entity. 19 years you have been operating illegally and you have the effrontery to complain when dealt with. You should have arrested the CEO too. What impunity! Let’s not let politics cloud every pronouncement. Pratt and gyamfi would be called nation wreckers during other regimes.
By admitting that you have flouted the law is enough reason for the station to have been closed down very long ago. We live in a country where there is so much lawlessness left right and center with impunity of the highest order. We all like to travel to the developed western countries because the law works.....why dont we with the same mentality make our laws work? Everyone has become lawless in this small country where mineral resources are scatted on every inch of land yet we are the poorest simply because we are not law abiding.
You think if Oman FM has done what the Radio Gold is doing during the period of MAHAHA anf NDC, is that kind of reasoning you might have espoused? the hypocrisy with NDC Leadership and their supporters are immeasurable. stop the hypocrisy and do the right thing, period
we know that woman so no much talks, we know her in the days of westell. NPP, your level of politics is too dirty. Be aware the stones you guys are throwing will soon bounce back to you all!!!
