The police have confirmed the death of 27 revelers including a pregnant woman after an oil tanker run into 59 of them on Tuesday night at Senya Beraku in the Central region of Ghana.
According to the Winneba Police Commander, DSP Martin Asamoah, 15 people died on the spot and 12 others gave up the ghost on arrival at the Winneba Government Hospital.
DSP Asamoah told Citi News that 32 more are responding to treatment at the hospital. He corroborated eyewitnesses� accounts that the accident could be as a result of brake failure while stating that the police are still investigating the exact cause.
The driver of the 2000-litre oil tanker and two other occupants are currently in police custody.
