A first year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has met his untimely death on a day supposed to be the happiest day of his life.
The level 100 student, Gideon Afoakwa, 19, went out with his friends in a boat expedition on the Barakese Lake to celebrate his birthday and take some pictures.
According to Peace FMs reporter, Sampson Kwame Nyamekye, speaking in an interview on Peace FM, Gideon decided to jump into the lake to show his swimming prowess when actually he didnt know how to swim.
His friends who thought Gideon was still showing his swimming skills were cheering him up until they realized something was wrong.
Apparently, they also didnt know how to swim and therefore went to the nearest police station to report the incident as well as call for help.
A team was therefore dispatched to the scene to search for and recover the body of Gideon.
Meanwhile, the lifeless body of Gideon has been deposited at the mortuary.
