Mr Robert Sarbah, Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) on Tuesday said transport fares has not been increased.
He has also admonished drivers and car owners to exercise restraint as the union was working with the appropriate authorities.
We are still waiting for the Ministry of Transport to certify the percentage of transport increment decided on by GPRTU, Mr Sarbah told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra.
Mr. Sarbah said he was optimistic that the final decision from the Ministry of Transport would respond to GPRTUs request on the appropriate percentage increase within the week.
He said although the National Working Committee had a crunch meeting in Accra last Friday to discuss the feasibility of increasing transport fares, and came out with the percentage that they wanted their members to charge, it was yet to receive approval from the Ministry of Transport.
