A Nyinahin Magistrates Court, presided over by Mr Sam Nibi, has sentenced a farmer to a fine of GH600 over mobile phone theft.
Peter Sowenti, 21, would spend 60 days in prison should he fail to pay the fine.
His conviction came after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Police Chief Inspector Samson Cobbina told the court that the crime was committed on November 5, 2014.
He said Sowenti had sought shelter during a rainfall in a carpenters shop at Nyinahin, operated by Kwadwo Antwi, where he stole the phone.
The prosecution said Antwi detected the theft when Sowenti had left after the rain had subsided.
Prosecution said Antwi traced him to a nearby house where a search conducted on him uncovered the phone.
He was subsequently handed over to the police.
