A 36-year-old man is in the custody of the National Security Secretariat for carrying a weapon at President John Mahama’s church.
Communications Minister, Edward Omane-Boamah, revealed this in a short statement to the media Sunday.
“The man was arrested after his fidgety and suspicious behaviour was noticed during the morning service. He was escorted out by security personnel and following a search, the weapon was found,” the Minister explained in the statement.
It is not clear what "weapon" the 36-year-old unidentified man was carrying.
However, President Mahama and his family were not at the Ringway Gospel Centre branch of the Assemblies of God Church when the incident occurred.
Apart from the President and his family, other key government officials including the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Woode attends the same church.
Mr Omane-Boamah said investigations are ongoing.
