The Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Joe Osei-Owusu, has admitted it will be difficult for him to get in the right frame of mind and chair the vetting process Thursday, after being hit with the ‘mischievous’ claims by the NDC MPs in the alleged bribery scandal.
Appearing before a five-member ad hoc committee formed by the Speaker of Parliament to probe the bribery allegation, Joe Osei Owusu told the ad hoc committee on its first public hearing Wednesday, February 15 that he is not guilty of the bribery allegations leveled against him.
He said the matter was fabricated, per the North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s own testimony given in a conclave that suggested that the issue was a move only intended to equal bribery allegation made against former President John Mahama.
Speaking in an interview Wednesday night, February 15, 2017, on State of Affairs on GHOne TV, the Bekwai MP said it was a challenge for him to cope and work in harmony with the two minority members seeking to nail him at all cost in the bribery scandal.
“It’s very difficult for me, gotten into this banter to go and sit at the committee and pretend that nothing is happening.
“…because I’m required to be fair as a person chairing the committee; I’ve no choice. But it is really difficult to look at people who are being so mischievous.
“The difficulty is that tomorrow I’m going to preside again with these same persons and I’m supposed to treat them fairly; It is very difficult, but i’m supposed to live above board.”

If you think that you are innocent of the bribery claim, then call the dirties to curse your accusers and yourself I think africans believe in that.
What was the objective behind your meeting with Mahama at his house after his defeat? The sensible among you did not agree to your hatched plot to equalise your corrupt practices. Ayariga,Okudzato and Suhinuini are the trio who hate the truth. They will be ashamed at the end of the investigation.
Speaker of Parliament, please dissolve the vetting committee and create a new one period.
AS A MATTER OF FACT, THIS MAN DOESN'T COME ACROSS TO ME AS AN INTELLIGENT PERSON, HIS UTTERANCES, HIS DEMEANOUR AND APPROACH ARE VERY PREDICTIVE, I HONESTLY HAVE LOST 'SOME' RESPECT FOR PARLIAMENT IF THIS IS THE BEST MATERIAL AVAILABLE TO CHAIR THE APPOINTMENTS COMMITTEE.
This man is just crying to win some public sympathy. Masa just tell us the truth and stop waisting our time. Muntaka said in a radio interview by joy fm that, they the minority met and decided not to take anything from anybody this time round.what does the statement say to u? They are all ttthhhiiieeevvveeesss and ccoorruupptt. Your time is up Joe. Ashantis with money. Joe' s ccoorrrruupptt attitude started way back at DVLA. Just stop the crocodile tears. As for Muntaka, he quickly swore by Allah. We all know zongo ppl with WALLAAHI EVEN WHEN THEY ARE LYING. Most of them dont fear Allah
Why are you denying Ablakwa, who you're accusing of admitting at a "conclave", whatever that means, the opportunity to come before the committee?
Please Hon.if you are been honest and you want Ghanaians to take you serious, then step aside and allow your deputy to chair the committee. You can resume your work after the investigations exonerate you
sorry sir it is not the people who accused you that is worrying, but your conscience which is fighting you. Just admit and say sorry, to err is human.
The most honorable thing you should is to recuse yourself from the Committee irrespective of whoever impresses it upon you to stay. Are we saying there are no other competent people to preside over the committee? What is happening to Ghana, my beloved country? This is more of a charade! In other jurisdictions your vice chairperson of the committee presides over the vetting while you're still being investigated.
Hon. I will urge you not to focus on something that has the tendency to draw you back but please let your focus be on things that will move you to the level you have set for yourself. Please Hon. do not allow yourself to be brought down by these "evil doers.Devil incantation" God will fight for you keep it cool. The Evil that they wish for you will hit them back. The truth will finally come out and you will be vindicated and they will be disgraced. The battle is the Lords
