An 82-year-old man who has been born again for 32 years but does not pay tithe believing that it is against the practice, has slammed pastors who he said is using tithe to defraud their church members.
82-year-old Ghanaian Council of State member, Sam Okudzeto has said that Pastors are using the Old Testament idea of tithing to “blackmail” their church members into dispensing with their hard-earned money, most of which goes into individuals’ pockets, and that is “wrong”.
Okudjeto who has been born again for 32 years but does not pay tithe becuase he belief that its against the practice, says pastors take advantage of Malachi 3:10 which says: “’Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it,’” to fleece their church members.
He said; “I have a different concept of tithe,” the former president of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) told Paul Adom-Otchere in an interview on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana programme.
“I have argued with pastors that they are using the tithe as a ruse to blackmail people to give money and I said it is wrong. I give, I don’t go and give tithe. And I give not only to church, I give to church, I give to people who have need, I help those who I think are in a situation where they need help.
“I don’t pay tithe because that’s Old Testament concept and I’ve told the pastors that they are wrong because they are using Malachi to entice people to collect money from them and that money that goes to them does not help the poor and the needy. They do not, no,” Mr Okudzeto said.
According to him, “…everybody is opening a church, every corner you turn in Accra, there is a church,” because the pastors are using the tithing concept to enrich themselves.
“God does not bless you because you give tithe, God blesses you because you’re worshipping him. He blesses you because you love your neighbour as yourself, and you provide for your neighbour when he has need, that is what God wants you to do. So, we are turning the Bible upside down.”

This is how Okudjeto knows God so allow him. Your revelation of God determines how you relate with him. I am a Tither and I love it. If I am asked to advise him, I will say he should seek God more and that will change his perspective on Tithing.
don't misbehave after God brings u out of the doldrums. don't challenge His word. who are u to say this? God forgive u. just keep quiet if u are not paying. ask for His grace to help u do it.
What we(not only Christians) are faced with in relation to Salvation or eternal Damnation is akin to penalty kicks in Soccer games. One of two results can be achieved. You score or you miss.Commentaries like he kicked the turf, hit the woodwork, hit the upright and 3kaa keteketekete all can be summed up in one phrase-failed to score. When your Spirit/Soul is faced with such a judgement in future, you don't employ your carnal reasoning for such an important judgement. Why did you pay and why didn't you pay are two likely questions we will face on this issue. One can easily plead in the case of the former question but a plea for the later question will mean that some restitution must be done. Now, who is going to grant you that latitude to come back,be born again by your mother or somebody else, grow up,get job and pay your tithe, die again and come and continue the judgement process?Lets discount other people who will have to resurrect to help you in this exercise. What fatal loss will you suffer if you are told that you should have enjoyed 100% of your hard earned salary? If 90% was not enough, would 10% be? Again, the ultimate Judge and Accountability General is the Almighty Himself. What business do we have in doing a mini Audit here?Whoever is misusing the tithe will have his/her turn on the judgement day. Folks apply this principle in any Biblical issue with divergent views.Do not opt for the easier one,go for the difficult one and wisely hedge your Salvation.
To agree or not to disagree, this is Mr Sam Okudzeto personal opinion, anything outside the faith is sin according to the Bible, Romans 14:23, I love it when people calling for backing up the subjects with facts , Never interpret scripture with logic or else you must re-enter your mother’s womb to be born again (Nicodemuism) , the supreme end of a man is to GLORIFY GOD and ENJOY HIM FOREVER, Are you Glorying God when it come to your money , In Acts 5:36-39,..GNT, for sake of understanding I will paste it here because some of us are too busy to study (He said to the Council, "Fellow Israelites, be careful what you do to these men. 36 You remember that Theudas appeared some time ago, claiming to be somebody great, and about four hundred men joined him. But he was killed, all his followers were scattered, and his movement died out. 37 After that, Judas the Galilean appeared during the time of the census; he drew a crowd after him, but he also was killed, and all his followers were scattered. 38 And so in this case, I tell you, do not take any action against these men. Leave them alone! If what they have planned and done is of human origin, it will disappear, 39 but if it comes from God, you cannot possibly defeat them. You could find yourselves fighting against God!" The Council followed Gamaliel's advice. ) I don’t think faith walk is a facts proving walk. facts has always be one of the greatest enemies of faith. don’t you know circumstance can be seen and people duping people in the name of Tenth out of your income, Thank God for Digibox, $10,000.00 to NCA on monthly basis will cast their voices and images broad from their wooden structure tabernacle to the rest of the world whereby the unlearned fall prey to this Chaldeans , yet scripture tells us to disregard the facts but rather focus on things that are not seen.. 2 Cor. 4:18. the Only thing that is eternal is the Truth and the Word of God is the Truth, keep the faith of a command to pay if you believe in the written truth than what is happening, its will soon give way for a written Truth. Forgive for a long post.(Mercy)
Does my Heavenly Father really need your monies? Is it not for our own good that the 10% or more is used to cleanse the rest of your income/monies received.. knowing all the devilish, sakawa, etc monies in the system! Also, where is the pressure to give to the church you attend? "take it to my house,"- Any church on the earth that God Himself puts on your heart! Your offering can go to your church. The word of God was foollishness to the gentiles.. remember? to the wise, its hard to make sense... Moses, @ 120 still had good eyes and strength.. can we say that of this man? he that giveth freely, shall have abundance, and he that hoardeth, shall loose all. ha! my take, if i give my tithes, and the osofo chops it anyhow, is it my problem? i have obeyed God so I take my eyes off the osofo to God, to put Him to His Word! As a matter of fact, i over pay my tithes, just so i can write in the corner of my book, GOD owes me.. haha.. and in a matter of hours, He shatters it for me to owe HIM 1000's- test HIM... its real! tithe!
All the religious groups, christians, muslims etc pays tithes
“Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone" (Luke 11:42) These are the words of Jesus. He did not condemn tithe but advised that paying a tenth of one's earning should be done in conjunction with other required duties.
It is not only wrong for Christians to pay tithe; it is a curse to do so according to the Bible. It is written in [Gal 3:10..]Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them. So b serving one part of the Law; that is, paying tithe and ignoring other parts of the law is a curse. So if paying tithe, then strictly observe the Sabbath, ***barred word*** sacrifices and others. Under the Law, it is even forbidden to use money to pay tithe. And tithe is paid to the generation of Levi only once in every three years. Which pastor today is a generation of Levi hence qualified to be paid tithe? Jesus, the Apostles, the disciples and the Holy Spirit did not in any part of the Bible impose the payment of tithe on Christians. You are obligated to pay offerings if even 100% of your income or earnings, but this should not be imposed on you.
What dispensation are you arguing about. Stop your personal attack and support your argument with facts. IF Jesus came to abolish tithing which scripture does not support unless you can provide your facts to that effect, then also I will argue that stop obeying the moral law which is the law of love. So the Bible speaks of two great Laws. Law Number 1 is the Law of God (“the Ten Commandments,” or “Two tablets of the Testimony,”) also known as the “Moral Law,” the “Law of Love” and the “Decalogue.” Law Number 2 is the “Law of Moses” (the “Book of the Law,” or “Book of the Covenant,”) also known as the “Mosaic Law,” the “Ordinances,” the “Ceremonial Law” and the “Sacrificial Law.” Is there a relationship between the Ten Commandments and the Ceremonial law? Absolutely. If an Israelite sinned, he broke Law Number 1, the Moral Law of the Ten Commandments. He then had to bring his offering according to Law Number 2, the Sacrificial Law to receive forgiveness. This is the relationship between these two laws. Law Number 1 defines sin, as sin is the transgression of the Moral Law, the Ten Commandments. 1 John 3:4. Law Number 2 defined sacrifices, the Ceremonial Law which was the remedy for sin. Jesus came to fulfill both the moral law and the ceremonial or mosaic and through him Christians are able to fulfill the moral law which is the law of love. I hope this helps you. And tithing and offering as I already told you predates even the law of Moses. I've made my point without resorting to insults and personal attacks. Please make yours all humbly reconsider your argument. Please read Matthew 23:23. The just shall live by his faith.
This is a simple truth that Pastors of today will gang up against you if you say it. Since the reintroduction of tithing in the late 50s everybody now want to be a pastor. In some churches it is now a family dynasty. Husband, wife and children.
