The site has gained worldwide recognition but behind the castle is an open defecation ground.

What is so difficult about stopping people engaging in this act? A little initiative, and job done. Sometimes you have to be tough to get things done.
I was really sad when I watch the documentary in question. How can these be going on in this century. The quickest solution to this shameful behaviour is to simply fence the periphery of the Castle. Since it is tourist attraction, the Municipal Authority together with Government should as a matter of priority look for funds to barricade the whole area. When that is done, I don't think they can enter the sea, walk back to the shore to defecate, simpliciter.
this is really a disgrace to Ghana.
Is so sad. How long this has been going and tourism ministry and district officials are ok with it. Wow! What kind of leaders we got especially the chief and leaders of cape coast. Very sad today for seeing this.
Honestly, we need the military regime back in Ghana to rule because of our backward behavior. These people using the beaches as place on convenience should be lashed, made to sit under the scorching sun for days. They should clean the whole beach and I bet they will stop. These people are just bunch of idio()ts . I am so pissed.
I saw this on mid Joynews today and I was very disappointed. What happened to these Fantes since the Whiteman set foot in Ghana. In fact it is at the Cape Coast Castle that education started in Ghana, wayback in the 17th Century or so. And these people should have been the most enlighten people in Ghana today. But do we see? A very pathetic bunch of individuals living in Cape Coast
