Retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice William Atuguba has revealed how some individuals sometimes approached Judges of the Supreme Court to induce them for favourable judgment.
He also defended the court’s famous 2013 Election petition judgment that endorsed then President, John Mahama’s victory in the 2012 general election, saying the panel relied on divine guidance.
Ghana’s revered judiciary came under heavy public criticism after a documentary by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed deep seated corruption involving top judges of the High Courts.
Addressing attendees to the Advent Lecture Series organized by the Catholic church in Accra, Justice Atuguba stated that he was surprised people could dare attempt to bribe judges of Ghana’s high courts.
“At that election petition was decided through prayer by the panel, well not young people. I’m 70 years old,I’m not a young man that’s why I’ve retired, some were older but nobody broke down throughout the 8 months after long hours of sitting. When the decision came there was total peace in the country. As for the vilifications, they’re unending and sometimes most painful, you can’t believe that some human beings are capable of diabolical behavior. I looked at it this way, this was a very hot issue that rocked this country by the grace of God he answered our prayers and things were done coolly, so why don’t I sacrifice my personal interest for the continuity of the peace so I left. Not that it’s not painful but God redresses evil in his own time.
“Apart from political challenges in the case I sat on. You can’t believe that some people will even dare try to induce supreme court judges with monies to decide cases in their favour.”

Wow and he got away with it
Is John Mahama reading this? it came at a time he thinks Ghanaians need him, how? Justice Atuguba said the panel relied on Divine intervention what does that mean my understanding is the opposition won but because of peace which ndc was not ready to give Ghanaians they decided to give it to them. I understand why Ghanaians voted overwhelmingly to send ndc away and have decided to vote again to keep ndc in everlasting opposition! it's amazing when you hear ndc and their John mahama saying they coming back to where? the same people who voted massively against you to bring you back with nothing to show to them but gargantuan debts? do you ndc think Ghanaians are f000*00ls like your followers? Ghanaians are very discerning and enlightened to choose ndc over NPP anibuefuo! aaah! look at how they building our country in just about 2 years, Free SHS, NABCO, RESTORATION OF TEACHER AND NURSES TRAINEE ALLOWANCES, PLANTING FOR FOOD AND JOBS, RAILWAYS IS WORKING, NHIS IS WORKING everything is working under this government and the ndc with no vision think bobolibobo will put food on the tables of Ghanaians, will pay school fees? you joking ! Ghanaians are waiting for you! ndc is the number one enemy of every Ghanaian, they hate our prosperity and progress! every good thing for Ghanaians are not good in the eyes of the ndc! ndc will rot in opposition!
Whether you prayed or not ;whether you were not bribed or not it is all between you and the God you worship. I'm sure when you go to bed, between you ,your pillow and your conscience you will have a conversation. Just sh-ut up and enjoy your pension.
Accra remains dirty and that is the simple truth. If Accra is clean no one needs to say or try so hard to convince anybody. Cleanliness speaks and will speak for itself.
you need not explain to us that the election petition judgement can not be relied on to train our future lawyers. it was clear bribery
Oye Luther said it in Vicky Hammer secret recorded tape.... This is no news. NDC bribed some of you opn the 2013 election petition.
