The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) will on December 27 and 28, 2018 hold a public auction exercise where a number of overstayed vehicles and goods will be sold to the general public at Tema.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner-General of GRA, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, the auctioning of the overstayed goods and vehicles are part of efforts to mop-up revenue before the end of the year and this is in accordance with Sections 93 (1) and 59 (2) of the Customs Act which mandates them to carry out that act.
According to him, the auction will be on a cash-down basis and the general public will be expected to partake in the activity.
“GRA expects the cooperation and understanding of the public to ensure the success of this auction. The GRA wishes all stakeholders, taxpayers and the general public the best of the season”, the statement read.
Below are details of the date and location where the goods and vehicles will be auctioned by the GRA Customs Division.
1. State Warehouse – Vehicles/General Goods – 27th and 28th December – 10am
2. Atlas – Vehicles/General Goods – 27th and 28th December – 10am

The Vehicle owners must be the first to be given auction opportunity before the general public,it's not fair if the owners are not given chance. For all you know the GRA is selling them cheap for their relatives, friends and love one.Ghana and Africa for you.May God save us.Nana Addo must do something on this outrageous import duties,or else he'll lose a the 2020 elections.Ken Agyapong was complaining bitterly about it the other day.He said he'd told Dr.Bawumia, and hoping the listening VEEP will act.
Kenny is right, if you wanna auction i think the first buyers should have the first shot before the general public. So it is fair and just than to share among big men; Africa, we don't want to change kraa oo. This greedy and evil coveting will be the death of us!
I don't have problem about the auctioning of cars. However, my problem is that the auctioneers connive with their friends and family members to buy the cars at cheaper and outrageous prices which is not even up to half of the imposed taxes at the harbour. This public notice is just a fake one just to deceive the general public. They already know those who are going to buy the cars. We have seen 2013 V8 being sold for 7,000 Cedis and Toyota Pick-Up sold for 4,000 Cedis. Politicians and people in leadership positions are just killing the poor people in this country. Remember that when you die, you will not send these cars and monies to your graves
This happens i every country if u cant pay taxes on goods or vehicle u import it will then be auction out to the public.
YOU'VE SAID IT ALL.............KENNY
Sad,you sit in your comfort office and people go and suffer to acquire something for themselves and the place an outrageous cost on it and for them not ben able to clear it only for you to turn around and auction it at a cheaper prices for the publick to buy.Why dont you let the owners of those properties pay for the same price and have thier cars instead of selling to the ordinary people? If you want to meet the 39 billion target located to you by the fianace minister, the best way is to sell your WIFE,GIRLFRIENDS and CHILDREN to meet that target because that will fetch you more money than to auction peoples sweat.
