Apologise for calling us “pure criminals” – GNAT to Adei
The Ghana National Association of Teachers, (GNAT), has called on the former rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, (GIMPA), Professor Stephen Adei, to apologise to its members for describing them as “pure criminals.”
Prof Adei told, on Thursday, 24 January 2019 on Class FM tsaid Ghanaian teachers in public basic schools are “pure criminals” because "they do not teach” yet take their salaries and send their children to private schools.
In his view, that attitude of the teachers was affecting the quality of education at the primary level.
In an interview on Ahomka FM, the Central Regional Chairman of GNAT, Dr Isaac Owusu, described Prof Adei's comment as unfortunate and demanded an apology.
He said: "I’ve also heard what our senior comrade, Prof Stephen Adei has said about the teachers in this country, and, in fact, this is not the first time he's spoken. He's our elder and a very respectable man, so, we sometimes don't want to be treating him like we do to others...
“It is, indeed, an insult. Yes, indeed, like in every institution or profession, you may find one or two teachers among us who may be doing what is not expected, but that doesn't mean you should generalise it that all teachers are criminals.
“It is very unfortunate, so, we, the GNAT members in the region, are calling on him to apologise to all teachers before he incurs our wrath".

TRAMADOL INDUCED PROFESSOR. NO WONDER YOU CANT AFFORD TO SHAVE YOUR BEARD. ***barred word***
This prof.is fake No real prof will make such an unfortunate statement. He must come again with an apology. we teachers are well mannered so we are not going to insult him in return. He must rather do the right thing quickly.
fact is fact. the old prof. has said it all. the public school my ward is going is full of hell. e.g everymornig like this, she must go to school with 1.5 Ghana cedis as study fees, terminal exams papers which are printed by G.E.S. but the student are made to pay 13 cedis as exams fees, this is just few what evidence do you have to say they are not ***barred word***'s. BIG ONCE
It is true that every ***barred word*** person can open his or her ***barred word*** called mouth just to insult teachers.l don't blame him for that I rather blamed politians for not coming out with good policies for the educational sectors that Will enhance teaching and learning.
While other profs are searching for ideas to develop this country, you are there insulting your teachers. Were you not taught on how to speak in public? Were you not taught on how to search for a fact? In fact, your old age is ***barred word*** to Mother Ghana. Ghana will never forgive you.
Oh! So Nana Addo has appointed you to come and ridicule Yeachers? We show him
Why must he Apologize for speaking the truth?
hypocrite, haven't you build a school running a British curricular. If u believe our educational system why go the British educational way. National Devt Planning Commission boss does not believe a anything national.
Yaw, the question you asked is very relevant. But the other aspect of this is that, why do they send their children to the private schools? The public officers talk by heart(Sorry) when they have the opportunity. They will not provide the needed logistics for the teachers to deliver and the few that will be sacrificing, impediments are placed on their ways. Those talking, ask how many have their wards at the public schools. They make things difficult for you and they turn round to accuse you of non performance. They send all the average and bright children to the private schools and send the chaff (SORRY) to the public schools. those who cannot even write theirs names and after you manage to turn them around, they withdraw then and send them to the private schools which they have set up and charging exorbitant fees. He (Prof. Adei) is just instigating you to send your ward to his school. That's all.
Is it true that public sector teachers send their children to private schools? If so then why should they draw salaries from the public purse?
