The Old Guards Association of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated President John Evans Atta Mills for his massive endorsement as the partys Flag-bearer for the 2012 elections.
A message signed by Steve Boateng, the Vice Chairman, and copied to the media, said his landslide victory signified a win for democracy in the party. The NDC has chalked a major achievement in the annals of Ghanas democratic evolution, it added.
The Association urged all members to put behind them the euphoria of the electoral victory and come together as a unified family. It said it was refreshing that the National Reform Party (NRP) and the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) were now retracing their roots to the NDC.
The Old Guards called on the leadership to move quickly to meet the aspiration of the partys numerous supporters. They should also do away with arrogance and make sure that they carried themselves with humility and sensitivity to the concerns of the ordinary Ghanaian who put the NDC into power.
