Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has slammed the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he describes as a desperate attempt to propagandize President Mills meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
Mr Pratt says he is downhearted by the NPPs attempt to pooh-pooh the President's visit.
According to him, it is incredible that anybody can come to the conclusion that President Mills faked his meeting with the UN Secretary General, asking if the UN boss was some kind of deity and had all the solutions to all our problems.
The NPP General Secretary, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, last week threw a challenge to President John Evans Atta Mills and his Communications Team to provide video evidence that he is currently domiciled in the United States for his annual leave.
Sir John, as the NPP Chief Scribe is affectionately called, also raised doubts about the meeting between Ban Ki-Moon and President Mills, speculating that President Mills supposed two weeks leave was strictly for medical reasons, contrary to official correspondence by his aides to Ghanaians.
But contributing to discussions on Radio Golds Alhaji & Alhaji program, Kwesi Pratt expressed disappointment at the NPP for seeking to capture power by peddling falsehoods all in an attempt to denigrate the president.
He also expressed incredulity that the opposition could draw such conclusions just because the UN Secretary Generals website did not published information about the said meeting.
More soon....
Indeed I am so down hearted by the attempt to propagandize the presidents visit, the peddling of rumors and falsehood by none other than the General Secretary of the largest opposition party which is seeking to capture power. What did Sir John say? One, that the President did not meet the Secretary General of the United Nations.I mean this is incredible. How can anybody come to the conclusion that the President did not meet the Sec-Gen because the website did not say so, when the international media was reporting it; at a time when Ghanaian media were publishing photographs of the meeting and so on? Indeed, what went into the head of Sir John for him to think that even those photographs could have been faked? I am totally embarrassed and Im even more embarrassed when I listen to the interview that you had with Spokesperson for the Sec-Gen of the UN. Here we are, telling the whole world that we think our president is faking a meeting with the UN Sec-Gen. Why would we even think that? What is it about the Sec-Gen of the UN that a whole President will fake a meeting with him? Is the Sec-Gen of the United Nations some deity? Does he have the solutions to the all the problems confronting us and so on?...I am so scandalized by this development, he said.
The Senior Journalist also fumed at reports that President Mills is suffering from kidney failure and is in Cuba for medical treatment. Whiles questioning the basis for such allegations, Mr Pratt was emphatic that the President had not been anywhere the island nation in the Caribbean.
What is the basis of this claim? The President has not been anywhere near Cuba. Did somebody see the presidential jet in Cuba? What is the basis? And why do you draw in Cuba? If you want to engage in your useless, fruitless propaganda, why would you draw in another country? I dont know where this information is coming from, Ive no idea where this is coming from and Im totally scandalized by this development, a clearly piqued Kwesi Pratt said.
