Mr Shaibu Issa, 41, has been elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Ellembelle District Assembly.
He was elected with 37 votes out of the 51 members who cast their ballots as against 14 votes by his main challenger Mr Edward Arthur.
The election was conducted by the District Electoral officer, Mr Emmanuel Aidoo.
Mr Shaibu, in his acceptance speech, pledged to sustain the unity of the Assembly to ensure the development of the area.
He assured members of his support as they seek to strengthen the decentralization process in the area.
Mr Shaibu promised to hold periodic meetings with all internal and external contractors to assess their progress of work and ensure that contracts were completed on schedule.
Mr Dominic Nyanzu, the immediate past PM of the Assembly, said he was happy the election was conducted in a peaceful manner which is unlike other assemblies where after several attempts; they are still yet to elect a PM.
