Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has questioned why the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] has delayed to launch its manifesto with all the ample time in opposition.
“When it comes to launching of manifesto, at least three or four parties have launched their manifesto and the NPP cannot launch its manifesto. What was the purpose of their early congress then? How did the NPP use that early congress in other to move ahead of the competing parties? This baffles me,” he said.
“What did early congress do for the NPP? These are serious questions to ask,” Mr. Pratt lamented on Radio Gold’s political talk show ‘Alhaji & Alhaji’.
His comment comes after the NPP says it will launch its manifesto for the 2016 election on October 8, in the Northern Region.
The ‘Elephant’ fraternity delayed their manifesto - with some giving the reason that the NDC will ‘steal’ their ideas when it comes out.
But the National Democratic Congress (NDC) launched its manifesto in Sunyani ahead of the NPP over the weekend.
Last Tuesday before the launch on Saturday, a highlight presentation of the NDC manifesto was made by the party's flagbearer, President John Dramani Mahama at the State Banquet Hall in Accra.
Addressing a press conference Wednesday, Nana Akomea described as empty the various promises made by President Mahama.
He said the President “steals ideas from his political opponents only to be found wanting when it comes to implementing them.”
Adding that - “no deep attachment to the principles necessary to drive the promises they give. To them, politics is all about ways and means. Nothing to do with actually making lives better.”
However, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. says – “I am very disappointed in the NPP’s reaction to NDC’s manifesto highlight. My goodness.”
