The head of The Gambia's electoral commission says President Yahya Jammeh is to concede defeat in Thursday's election.
He said it was unprecedented for a Gambian head of state to accept defeat before the announcement of the final results.
There has been no word so far from Mr Jammeh who had been trailing the opposition leader Adama Barrow in partial results. Mr Jammeh took power in a coup in 1994.
Meanwhile, some people in The Gambia are celebrating on the street because they believe Barrow has defeated Jammeh.
Barrow is leading after results from 39 of 53 constituencies were declared.
Consultant Jeffrey Smith says the election will be decided by voters in the constituency of Serekunda-West.
Serekunda is the country's biggest urban centre and is situated a few miles southwest of the capital Banjul.

Unfortunately from my point of view Ghana is more a "Tribalistic" instead of democratic society. Yes the latter is whiteman's idea but we've turned it around to bite each other in tribalistic way. With such a high standard of education in the country after 60 yrs of independence. Let's turn it around to love and respect our beautiful tribes instead of abusing them.
Change is coming. Bye to Mahama. He should concede though and not resist the people's will.
Vote Mahama out for who to take over? Is it Nana Addo?Jesus Christ. Are we serious in Ghana at all? What has been the achievements or track record of Nana Addo? Is it selling his parents properties or what?I and my entire household will never do that mistake. We shall vote continuity and never a disaster like Nana addo.2020 for Nduom
WAIT TILL THE END OF GHANA ELECTION AND FIND OUT WHO IS MORE LOVED BY THE PEOPLE . EITHER NANA OR THE COURUPT NAD INCOMPETENT MAHAMA
Nana addo or who you are, don't you see change is comming. Anyway do not panic Nana Addo Dankwa will be President for all Ghanaians.
How many villagers even understand how USA or Gambian or whatever you may call election can affect that of Ghana. Take USA for instance, Clinton won the popular votes by over 2 million. If that were in Ghana, she would have won, so it's stoupid to claim because trump won in USA it means nana Addo would win in Ghana, only ediots make such assumptions. That Gambia for instance, the dynamics is entirely different. Gammeh is a dictator who has been killing people left right center and such a person is naturally hated by every sane citizen and they are likely to vote against him, but he will still stay in power even if he loses. This is the case in Gambia. These scenarios are entirely different from Ghana case. Over here, we have a president who is working hard to transform the nation. Talk about development, talk about peace and stability and most importantly talk about his own tolerant personality. People simple like him more that that love nana Addo. Nana Addo is just trying to force himself on Ghanaians using all sorts of bulldozing tactics, and he will never be a president in Ghana. No way.
Change across the world. Let's remove incompetence. Mahama must go! Nana must come to salvage Ghana.
It is a sign to ndc. It started with Jonathan of Nigeria and now Jammeh hhhhmmmm
God willing JM will concede defeat before the EC finally declares Nana Addo the winner come 7th Dec, 2016. Ghana shall surely be delivered from the grips of corruption and incompetence.
The wind of change is blowing everywhere. Like the Arab spring it is spreading very fast. Prez Mahama should begin to prepare his handover notes because he cannot escape the 2016 political tsunami.
