Former Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah has revealed that the imported V8 cars alluded to DAILY GUIDE story culled by Peacefmonline.com are for the Judicial Service.
"They are not for the Executive," Mr Debrah is reported to have said.
Communications Minister forwarded the Chief of Staff's rejoinder to Peacefmonline a short while ago.
The Chief of Staff's clarification is in sharp response to a misleading story which sought to suggest that President Mahama's Government is clearing vehicles at the port for purposes unknown.
According to the newsitem as published by DAILY GUIDE Friday, "41 brand new V8 engine Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles have arrived at the Tema Habour scheduled to be cleared by the outgoing Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government with just a day for a change in government".
The report indicated that "the vehicles arrived at the Tema Habour four days ago, raising concerns about who may have imported them into the country at this time and for what purpose they were brought in."
"Checks by DAILY GUIDE indicate that they were brought into the country by the outgoing NDC administration and a letter from the presidency, the Flagstaff House, had been issued for them to be cleared.
According to sources, Customs officers were confused as to whether the vehicles should be released or not since they are exempted from duty.
The officer-in-charge at the Port with the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Assistant Commissioner, Confidence Nyadzi, told DAILY GUIDE that he was acting on instructions from the outgoing government until there is a counter directive."
But the Chief of Staff has clarified that what Government did for the Judicial Service is basically to facilitate clearance from the port by ensuring exemption of various fees and charges.

My right thinking friends, these V8 vehicles were meant fir different purposes. When the table "turned" , it turned to another "purpose". That's , to BRIBE the judiciary , so that if they are sent there the judges can "help" them.
I don't care about the purpose V8's were imported. My problem is we have kantanka vehicles here and we can use them for the same purpose. A government that was preaching to us to patronize made in Ghana goods were not waking the talk..
So where will they get the money to buy fuel...l guess not from the government. In general NDC as a party is WASTE
Who is the current Commander in Chief Of the Ghana Armed Forces and for that matter the country Ghana? I need an answer from JOHN MAHAMA,NDC and Air Marshall Samson Oje. You see power has changed hands and just last month Mahama and Oje talked as if they OWN GHANA. You were going to deal with innocent people Ruthlessly because you wanted to retain power by Every Means but do you see where you find yourselves today. Respect Mankind because we are more POWERFUL than the positions we give you just for a TERM. I WILL BE BACK. Long Live Ghana and Long Live the people of KEEA
why are you bought such cars for the judiciary? what are they going to use it for? don't forget Ghana is a developing country and we must save the little money for development. These are misplaced priorities. What is wrong with us? cant we think wisely?
Isn't there an established process for clearing these vehicles?
It's not for any judiciary, for your selves, you didn't think you will loose so you can keep them for personal use, when did your administration start buying v8 cars for the judiciary, thievess
Well; Well :well ; thses NDC bandits and kriminals have been caught with their pants down again!!!!!! ; these V8 cars were not for judiciary ; it was to be shared amongst NDC party officials and Jon Mahama was going to use these cars to thank people had the NDC won the elections but it was never to be because God was in control ; how could you waste so much state resources to buy these gas guzzlers; from today Ghanaians are going to witness the un precendented waste and stilling by these Ndc politicians and some of these corrupt over invoicing and deals will shock Ghanaians and some of these deals will make the Woyome stilling look small pocket ; when the deals at Cocoa Board under Mr Opunni is investigated Ghanaians will be shocked !!!!!!!!WATCH THIS SPACE !!!
