The Akufo-Addo government has inherited a “very difficult” economy from the previous administration, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has said.
Speaking at a durbar of Zongo chiefs and Imams at Fadama in Accra organised by the Chief Imam to mark the birthday of Holy Prophet Mohammed, Dr Bawumia said despite the bad economy the New Patriotic Party has inherited, the Akufo-Addo-led government will deliver on all its promises.
“…We said that when by the grace of Allah we get into government, we will undertake a number of policies and by the grace of God we have gotten into government, we have looked at the economic situation, it is not an easy one, it is a very difficult one but by the grace of Allah we intend to keep all the promises that we made to the people of Ghana.
“You have already seen that we mean business; we are going to deal with the economic challenges, after all, that is what we were elected to do,” Dr Bawumia said.
As part of those promises, Dr Bawumia said the government will established the Zongo Development Fund in the first quarter of the year. “We will establish the Zongo Development Fund in our very first budget in March of this year. It is very important for people of the zongos and Muslims at large who live in the zongos. … We will establish it and work in consultation with our chiefs, our imams, our opinion leaders to make sure the fund is delivers on the needs of the people of the zongos.”

AH! BAWUMIA THIS IS NOTHING NEW, YOU TOLD US THIS DURING YOUR CAMPAIGNS SO WHY TELLING US THIS AGAIN WHEN WE ALREADY GAVE U THE POWER, LET ME BORROW THIS WORDS FROM NANA ''FIX IT''.
Well said Vice President... at least we have hope that you will utilize the resources you have at your disposal and we believe you are not going to use tax payer s money to buy v8 for non entities like some incompetent people did. God bless you and Nana Addo
He is reiterating the promises to you, but he is also Confirming the bad state of the economy having looked at the transitional report:That is exactly what the Vice is doing. So what are you guys complaining about? The man met his people the first time after his inauguration, and was telling them the government will live up to her promise to them despite the economic challenges and you are saying he talks too much? What do you expect him to tell them? NDC, your pull him down attitude and distractions will never work against the NPP.
Get to work and stop wasting our time. There is a huge task ahead of you. You think it is easy? NPP left a deficit of 14% in 2009. Now NDC is giving you 7% and you say it is difficult? Shame on the so called economist.
The formal president Mahama made a similar coment when he took power fours years ago. He said" what he has inherited a bone kind of economy. Well, no matter how the Vice President sees the economy, he campaigned for change. Now, change has come! Prove to Ghanaians and stop the blaming game. Please deliver on your campagin promises. There an Africa proverb the says " if you want to run faster then run alone but if you want to go futher the run together" run with Ghanaians Mr president.
as for you bawumia, the only thing you know how to do best is to laugh and talk ***barred word***. apart from kwame nkrumah who inherited huge sums of money bequeathed to him or ghana by the british colony, which gov't come to meet money in the gov't cofers? bawumia it's not about talking and laughingooo, its about sourcing for funds for development.will you stop shouting and start the works you promise us. you see how incompetent you are.gyimiiii.
When it is coming, it is doing!!!
We don't need any story, you already told us NDC is incompetent just keep quiet and fixed as you promise
90 percent of his kind are liarss. He was only campaigning to be vice president on his cv. That's it.
Master,no excuses. Ghanaians are not going to take any excuses from you at all so get your acts together and start work. Otherwise 2020 will be poisonous for you and your master.
